Removal, dismantling, check and installation of the steering mechanism

Drain the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic system of the amplifier.
Disconnect the discharge and return pipe fittings from the steering mechanism.

Disconnecting the propeller shaft

Disconnect the propeller steering shaft from the steering mechanism inside the passenger compartment (Fig. 5.23).

Removing the tie rod

With a special tool (09568-31000), disconnect the tie rod end from the knuckle (Fig. 5.24).

Remove the steering tube (Fig. 5.25).
Remove the steering rack mounting bolts and remove the steering assembly with rubber feet.

ATTENTION
When removing the steering gear assembly, remove the steering mechanism slowly and very carefully, so as not to damage the protective covers of steering gear and protective covers of spherical rod ends.

Remove the tie rod end from the steering rod (Fig. 5.26).

Remove the boot to ball joint (Fig. 5.27).

Remove the large hose clamp protective cover of steering draft (Fig. 5.28).

Remove the small clamp protective cover of steering draft (Fig. 5.29).
Pull the protective cover from the housing to the steering tie rod.

NOTE
When replacing the protective cover make sure no rust on the steering rack.

Disconnect the steering tube on the valve body and the steering mechanism and remove them.
Slowly moving rail drain the body of the steering mechanism.

Using chisels raschekante lock washer, which records the track rod and steering rack (Fig. 5.30).

Remove the tie rod from the steering rack (Fig. 5.31).

ATTENTION
Be careful when removing the tie rod from the steering rack, do not bend the rail.

Loosen the lock nut caps lock rail (Fig. 5.32).

Using a special tool (09565-31300), remove the cover stop rail (Fig. 5.33).

Remove the spring stop rail, fence rails, cap rails and lock the insert out of the housing of the steering mechanism (Fig. 5.34).

Remove the plug and the self-locking nut (Fig. 5.35).
Remove the retaining ring using the snap ring pliers.

Remove the pinion gear and the valve assembly with the top seal using a hammer with a plastic pin (Fig. 5.36).

Turn the travel stop rail clockwise up until the end of the retaining ring groove is out of the housing of the steering mechanism (Fig. 5.37).

As soon as the end of the retaining ring out of the groove housing the steering, turn the travel stop rack counter-clockwise and remove the retaining ring (Fig. 5.38).

ATTENTION
Do not damage the rail during disassembly.

Remove the travel stop rail, rail support sleeve and steering rack of the steering gear housing on the part of the plunger (Fig. 5.39).

ATTENTION
After removing the rack, replace the oil seal from the housing to the new.

Checking the steering rack
Check for wear or damage to the teeth of the rack.
Check the contact surface for the installation of the gland in the absence of excessive wear or damage.

Check the straightness of the rack (no bending or twisting) (Fig. 5.42).
Check the O-ring for excessive wear or damage.
Check the oil seal in the absence of excessive wear or damage.

Check the teeth of the pinion for wear or damage (Fig. 5.43).
Check the contact surface for the installation of the gland in the absence of excessive wear or damage.
Check the O-ring for excessive wear or damage.
Check the oil seal in the absence of excessive wear or damage.
Check for smooth rotation and lack of background noise during operation of the bearings.
Check for excessive play in the bearings.
Check loss of needles from the needle bearing.
Check for damage on the inner surface of the cylinder housing of the steering mechanism.
Check the protective covers for wear, cracks and breaks.

Assembly
Apply the recommended hydraulic fluid to the oil seal lip steering rack along its entire circumference.
Recommended fluid: PSF-3.

Install the gland into the housing of the steering mechanism

With a special tool (09431-11000), install the seal into the housing of the steering mechanism, as shown in Figure 5.44.

ATTENTION
Note the direction of the lip seal.
Use only a new oil seal.

Apply the recommended hydraulic fluid to the oil seal bearing bush steering rack along its entire circumference.
Recommended fluid: PSF-3
Install the oil seal on the bearing sleeve rail.

Apply the recommended hydraulic fluid to the O-ring and install it in the bearing bush steering rack with a special tool (09431-11000) (Fig. 5.45).
Apply recommended grease to the teeth of the steering rack.

ATTENTION
Do not fill the vent grease steering rack (Fig. 5.46).


Installation of the bearing sleeve and rail travel stop rail

Insert the rail into the housing of the steering mechanism, and then install the bearing sleeve rail and rail travel stop (Fig. 5.47).
Insert circlip opening stroke limiter rail through the opening in the housing of the steering mechanism, when openings are aligned. Rotate the travel stop rails and finally fasten the snap ring.

ATTENTION
After installation, the ends of the locking ring should not be visible through a hole in the hull of the steering mechanism (Fig. 5.48).

Apply the recommended hydraulic fluid and the recommended grease to the pinion gear and the valve assembly and place it into the housing of the steering mechanism (Fig. 5.49).
Recommended fluid: PSF-3.
Recommended lubricant: SAE J310a, NLGI ?��2 general purpose.

Install the ball bearing with a special tool (09222-21100) (Fig. 5.50).
Set pinion and valve assembly into the valve body.

Install the oil seal with a special tool (09432-21601) (Fig. 5.51).
Install the snap ring using the snap ring pliers.

Tightening the self-locking nut

Turn the drive pinion clockwise until it stops and tighten the self-locking nut (Fig. 5.52).

ATTENTION
Always replace a new self-locking nut.

Put into a "rubber" sealant (semydrying sealant) on the threaded portion of the plug and tighten to the specified torque (Fig. 5.53).
Tightening torque cap: 50-70 Nm.
Tighten cap in two places by the core.

Install the new lock washer and the tie rod. Stake the edge of the lock washer in two places on the steering draft (Fig. 5.54).

NOTE
Get a mustache in two places at the lock washer into the recesses of steering draft.
Before installation, always replace the new lock washer.

Install the liner, rail fence, spring lock rack and cover rail stop in the housing of the steering mechanism in the sequence shown in Figure 5.55.
Put into a "rubber" sealant (semydrying sealant) on the threaded portion of the lid lock rails before installing.
Set the rack in the center position, then insert the cover rail stop in the housing of the steering mechanism. Using a special tool, tighten the cap rail stop torque of 20-25 Nm. Remove the cover rail stop about 20 degrees and tighten the lock nut caps lock rails rated torque.
Tightening torque lock nut: 50-70 Nm.
After adjustment, replace the cover stops rack with a lock nut.

ATTENTION
If within the specified value of the angle of rotation to adjust the torque of the pinion gear does not work, check or replace parts and caps lock rail stop rail.

Install and tighten the mounting tubes of the steering mechanism to the specified torque, then replace the rubber feet using a special glue (adhesive).
Apply recommended grease to the place of installation of small clamp on the protective cover of steering draft (in the groove on the traction).
Recommended lubricant: SAE J310a, NLGI ?��2 general purpose.
Install a new high collar of a protective cover of steering draft.

NOTE
Before installing a protective cover of steering draft is always replaced with the new high collar of a protective cover.

Install a protective cover of steering draft in place, preventing its twisting (Fig. 5.56).

Fill the inner cavity of the protective cover of the spherical rod end (A) and a working edge of a ball joint (B) of the recommended grease. Coat the sealing lip protective cover recommended sealant and fix it on the ball joint with a hose clamp (Fig. 5.57).
Recommended lubricant: SAE J310a, NLGI ?��2 general purpose.
Screw the left and right tie-rods so that the length of the rod protruding left and right was the same and corresponded to the nominal value. Lock the nut.

The length of the protruding part of the steering rod: nominal value - 208.7 mm (Fig. 5.58).
Install the steering gear assembly on the car.
