Withdrawal Remove the front wheel. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut drive shaft to the front wheel hub. Remove the disc brake caliper assembly from the steering knuckle and suspend it with a wire rack on the front suspension. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
With a special tool (a puller 09568-34000) disconnect the spherical rod end from the knuckle (Fig. 3.148).
NOTE To prevent coming off of a stripper (09568-34000) pre-tie him with a rope or wire. |
Remove the bolt from the steering knuckle ball joint lower control arm (Fig. 3.149).
| Fig. 3.150. Detach the drive shaft from the wheel hub
|
With a plastic hammer, disconnect the drive shaft from the hub (Fig. 3.150). Remove the front axle.
Dismantling Remove the two screws securing the brake disk, and then remove the brake disc from the wheel hub.

|
| Fig. 3.152. Install the special tool to the wheel hub
|
Install the special tool on the wheel hub, as shown in Figure 3.152. Turn the special tool, remove the hub from the knuckle. Remove the special tool and guard.
| Fig. 3.153. Removing the inner race of the bearing from the wheel hub
|
Using a special tool, remove the inner race of the bearing from the wheel hub (Fig. 3.153).
| Fig. 3.154. Removing the outer race of the bearing from the wheel hub
|
With a special tool (09495-33100 and 09517-29000), remove the outer race of the bearing from the steering knuckle (Fig. 3.154).
Check Check hub for cracks and slots of the hub - the absence of excessive wear. Check the brake disc for scoring or damage. Check the knuckle for cracks. Check the bearing for cracks and damage.
Assembly Apply a thin layer of universal grease to bearing seats in the hub and knuckle.
With a special tool (09495-33100 and 09517-29000) press-fit the bearing into the steering knuckle (Fig. 3.155).
NOTE To prevent damage to the bearing assembly pressing force must be applied to the outer cage. Always install a new bearing assembly (not install used one bearing). |
Install protective cover.
With a special tool (09495-33100) press-fit hub to the steering knuckle (Fig. 3.156).
NOTE To prevent damage to the bearing assembly pressing force must be applied to the inner race of the bearing. |
Install the brake disc. Several times turn the hub for correct installation of the bearing.
| Fig. 3.157. Measuring a the start of the rotation wheel bearing
|
Measure the start of the rotation wheel bearing (Fig. 3.157) Limit the start of rotation of the bearing hub: 1.8 Nm or less.
| Fig. 3.158. Measuring the axial clearance wheel bearing
|
If the start of the rotation of the bearing is equal to 0 Nm, measure the axial clearance of the wheel bearing (Fig. 3.158). If the axial clearance is more than the limit, when the nut is tightened to a special tool 200-260 Nm, thus improperly installed bearing hub and knuckle. In this case, disassemble the unit and repeat the assembly procedure. Axial clearance Bearing Kit: 0.08 mm or less. Remove the special tool (09517-21500).
