The hub of the rear wheel
Withdrawal Lift the car and remove a wheel.
After removing the hub cap, remove the flange nuts and lock washers (Fig. 3.160). Remove the brake drum. Remove the brake hoses. Remove the parking brake assembly. Remove the parking brake cable. Remove the four screws on the axis of the lower control arm rear axle, and remove the protective casing and the hub of the rear wheel assembly.
Check Check the rear hub assembly for wear or damage. Check the rear axle for cracks or damage. Check the protective cover on the absence of excessive deformation and damage.
Check the axial clearance of the bearing hub
Set the dial gauge as shown in figure 3.161. Measure the axial clearance of the wheel bearing, moving the hub in the axial direction. Limit: 0.05 or less If the value of the axial clearance exceeds the limit, then the hub nut should be tightened to the specified torque, and then re-measure the axial clearance. If the measured value is greater again the limit value, replace the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly.
Checking the resistance to rotation wheel bearing For proper installation of the bearing hub is necessary several times to crank the wheel hub.

Then wrap the rope on the hub bolts to the end of the rope, attach the spring balance and pull it in a horizontal direction so that the hub is turned 90 ? (Fig. 3.162). The maximum permissible resistance to rotation of the bearing hub of the rear wheel: 27 N or less. If the measured value of the rotational resistance of the bearing hub over the limit, it is necessary to loosen the nut and hub and then tighten it to the specified torque, and then re-measure the rotational resistance of the bearing hub. If, after adjusting the measured value is greater than the limit value, replace the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly.
Setting Installation is the reverse order of removal.
NOTE After replacing the rear wheel hub assembly, add brake fluid and bleed the brake system. |
