The camshafts and the rocker

Withdrawal
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Drain the coolant.
Remove the ventilation hose connecting the air filter and cylinder head cover.
Remove the air filter.
Remove casings of a gear belt.

The camshafts and the rocker
Fig. 2.29. Camshafts and rocker arms: 1 - a decorative casing; 2 - a bolt, 8-10 Nm;
3 - a ventilation hose; 4 - Back Cover camshaft bearing; 5 - the camshaft position sensor; 6 - an arm of the camshaft position sensor; 7 - a shaft of the camshaft position sensor; 8 - Rocker; 9 - Hydraulic jacks of backlashes of valves; 10 - the case of oil supply; 11 - bolt 80-100 Nm; 12 - camshaft pulleys; 13 - exhaust camshaft; 14 - the camshaft seals; 15 - The front cover of the bearing of the camshaft; 16 - intake camshaft;
17 - Bolt, 19-21 Nm

Remove the cylinder head cover and the crankshaft position sensor (Fig. 2.29).
Remove the timing belt.

Reversing pulley bolt camshaft
Fig. 2.17. Reversing pulley bolt camshaft

Hold against turning a wrench the camshaft for clamping flat, remove the bolt and remove a pulley of a gear belt from a camshaft (see. Fig. 2.17).
Remove the bolts and remove covers of bearings, camshafts, rocker arms and valve clearance compensators.

A WARNING
To prevent bending loosen the camshaft bearing cap bolts in several stages.

Check
Rocker
Check the ease and smoothness of rotation of the roller. If they do not rotate smoothly, or are loose, replace them.
Check the surface of the rollers. Replace them if there are dents, damage or jamming.
Check the contacts side of the rocker.
Camshafts
Check the neck of camshafts for wear. If they are worn, replace the camshaft.
Check the working surfaces of cams of camshafts for wear. If the cams are worn out or damaged, replace the camshaft. Measure the height of each cam camshaft. Nominal and minimum permissible height of the cams of camshafts, refer to the table. 2.4.

Table 2.4
Height of cams of camshafts

Setting
Install the camshafts on the cylinder head without installing rocker.

A WARNING
Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil on the neck and cams of camshafts.
Exhaust camshaft has a groove on the back of the drive for the camshaft position sensor.

Location numbers (1) and identification tag (2) of a camshaft bearing cap
Fig. 2.30. Location numbers (1) and identification tag (2) of a camshaft bearing cap

Install the camshaft bearing caps. Check the identification label indicating camshafts intake or exhaust valves (Fig. 2.30).
I - inlet camshaft.
E - exhaust camshaft.
Check that the camshaft turns easily by hand. After checking, remove the bearing caps and camshafts, and then set the rocker.
Make sure that the alignment pins of pulleys in the end of the camshaft point upwards.

The sequence of tightening bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts
Fig. 2.31. The sequence of tightening bolts of covers of bearings of camshafts

In the sequence shown in Fig. 2.31, in two or three stages tighten bolts of covers of bearings torque 19-21 Nm.

A WARNING
Evenly tighten bolts of covers of bearings.

Using special tools to install the camshaft oil seal and guide (09221-21000, 09221-21100), press-fit the camshaft oil seal. Before pressing the gland lubricate the engine oil of its outer surface. Insert the oil seal on the front end of the camshaft and install it by striking a hammer on the device to complete the installation.
Install the camshaft pulley and fasten the bolts to 80-100 Nm.

Places applying sealant before installing the cylinder head cover
Fig. 2.32. Places applying sealant before installing the cylinder head cover: A - places applying sealant Threebond No.10 or equivalent; In - place Threebond No.1212D applying sealant or equivalent; 1 - cylinder head; 2 - semi-circular seal;
3 - the cylinder head cover

Install the cylinder head cover. Apply sealant to the locations shown in Fig. 2.32.
Tightening torque bolts cylinder head cover - 8-10 Nm bolts decorative cover - 4-5 Nm.

A WARNING
Place these items so that they can be reinstalled in the same position.

Replace the spark plug and install the ignition coil. Connect the wires, set the decorative cover.

A WARNING
Do not reuse the valve stem seal.

Set pin pulley inlet camshaft of the camshaft.
Align the shaft of the camshaft position sensor with a groove in the camshaft and install the sensor bracket.
