Ignition system

On vehicles installed contactless ignition system type DLI.

The system includes:

- Two separate ignition coil unit;
- Angle sensor of the crankshaft, the engine control unit transmits information on engine speed;
- Ignition control unit integrated in the engine control unit;
- The camshaft position sensor, engine control unit transmits the information about the order of cylinders;
- High-voltage wires and spark plugs.

Ignition system

In a typical system, the ignition coil generates a high voltage and ignition distributor transmits the current, at the right time, to the appropriate spark plug.

The contactless ignition system camshaft position sensor and steering angle sensor of the crankshaft, the engine control unit transmit the information to which the cylinder is necessary to submit the ignition voltage. The engine control unit sends a signal corresponding to the ignition coil, which generates a high voltage and transmits the current spark plug.

The contactless ignition system ignition pulse is applied once on two spark plugs, one on the compression stroke, one on the exhaust stroke - the ignition spark on the exhaust stroke has no value on the engine and therefore wasted. Cylinders are grouped according to the order of cylinders. For example, in order Sephia of cylinders - 1-3-4-2. Each coil actually consists of 2 separate high-voltage windings that is fed into the spark two cylinders each (one number to the cylinders 1 and 4 and another number to the cylinders 2 and 3).

Electronic ignition timing

The ignition timing is determined and set the engine control unit based on signals from various sensors and switches.

The engine control unit alters the ignition timing according to engine speed, the amount of supplied air, coolant temperature and other conditions.

A warning

Ignition timing at a frequency of idling: 8 ? 5 ? BTDC
The ignition timing is not adjustable.

Ignition system components

The mechanical ignition distributor replaced by an electronic control unit with no moving parts.
The system uses two ignition coils, on the engine of the spark plugs 2 and 4 cylinders.

Coil resistance is identical for the two ignition coils. Ignition coils are maintenance-free and, if defects are subject to replacement.

High-voltage wires connect the ignition coil to the spark plugs. They perform the functions are basically the same as in a conventional ignition system. Because of their shorter length increases the energy transferred to the spark plugs.

The spark plug is used to transfer high voltage generated in the ignition coil to the electrodes in the combustion chamber, wherein the current produces a spark for igniting air-fuel mixture.
