ATTENTION
When the steering wheel is not dealt a blow with a hammer on the shaft. The steering column can be deformed.

Set the wheel in the car straight.
Remove the steering wheel puller suitable.
Using a chisel and hammer, make the grooves in the heads of the bolts securing the steering lock mechanism.
Remove the screws with a screwdriver.

Remove item steering lock mechanism (Fig. 5.11).
Check
Check the steering column bearings for damage.

Check the length of the steering shaft

Check the length of the steering shaft (Fig. 5.12).
Replace the steering shaft if necessary.
Length: 211.6 mm.

Check the operation of the tilt mechanism and the longitudinal adjustment of the steering column

Check the operation of the tilt mechanism and the longitudinal adjustment of the steering column (Fig. 5.13).
Ensure the smooth movement of the lever from the "unlocked" to "locked".
Ensure secure the steering shaft when installing the lever to position "locked".
Replace the steering shaft if necessary.
