Elements of system of fuel economy engines with system of PBT are shown in Fig. 14.29. The system includes two indicator lights, one is an indicator of the need to include higher gear, the other - an indicator of excessive throttle opening. The warning lamp should be included higher gear lights up after the engine speed of the engine exceeds 2800 min -1 on the way down the accelerator pedal; It does not work when 5th gear or braking. The indicator lamp excessive throttle lights, if the pressure in the intake manifold is lower than 96-140 mm Hg. Art., and turns off when pressure exceeds this limit. To test the control lamp connect a tachometer to the engine. Start up the engine and check that the warning lamp lights up when the frequency of engine speed 2650-2950 min -1, and remain active as long as the engine speed of the engine exceeds this value. Disconnect the connector from the switch 5th gear on the gearbox and connect with each other connector pins. After that, the control lamp should light up with an increase in speed of the engine crankshaft. To test the control lamp excessive throttle disconnect the tube from the vacuum switch and connect it to the vacuum pump. Switch on the ignition; indicator lamp should light up when the pressure falls below 96-140 mmHg. Art., and should go off when exceeding the specified pressure.
Air injection system

Air injection system installed on the engine with a system of PBT includes two vacuum valves control air supply solenoid valve controlled by the control unit of PBT and air nozzles on the exhaust manifold (Fig. 14.30). The system uses the exhaust gas flow to suck air from the air cleaner to the exhaust manifold in order to promote post-combustion of unburned or partially burned fuel. Air injection system consists of two subsystems - one for cylinders 1 and 4, the second cylinders 2 and 3, since the pressure pulsation between cylinders is synchronized. In case of overload the motor system closes the solenoid valve, which opens the air valves and release the air in the atmosphere.
Dampers
| Fig. 14.31. Remove the air valve (1) of PBT
|
Remove the pressure plate mounting bolts, remove the vacuum hose and remove the valve from the air filter (Fig. 14.31). To check valve is necessary to use a vacuum pump. Connect the valve with the tube section, and then slowly increase the vacuum, and check that the valve began to open at a pressure of 70-90 mm Hg. Art. Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
Plate valves Start up the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Remove the air valve. Start up the engine, and then a few times increase and decrease the speed of the crankshaft; Using a piece of paper as an indicator, check that the air is sucked into the housing of the valve plate. Supporting the frequency of engine speed of about 2500 min -1, make sure that the valve body of the exhaust gases do not come out.

To remove the valve plate, disconnect the air hose and remove the bolts of the outer cover (Fig. 14.32). Remove the valves and rubber seals. Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
Air nozzles

Remove the injector from the exhaust manifold and gasket. Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
The three-way solenoid valve Warm up the engine and let it run at idle. Connect a voltmeter between contact ?W? of the valve and "weight" of the car. Increase the speed of the crankshaft of the engine abruptly release the accelerator pedal and verify that the meter reads zero voltage only with a decrease in speed. Otherwise, check the appropriate wires. Mark the place of connection of vacuum hoses, and then disconnect them. Disconnect the connector and remove the bolts of the valve. Apply a current of air in the inlet port of the valve and check that the air coming out from the canal just walking to the carburettor. Then apply a voltage 12 to contact the valve and repeat the test - the air must come out only from the channel going to the air filter. Replace the solenoid valve if it is defective. Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
