Carburetor later models with engine capacity of 2.0 liters equipped with a choke with automatic control instead of installed on earlier models with manual control valve. The damper actuator comprises a bimetallic spring, which is heated by electric current and opens the choke on the time duration of which depends on the temperature (Fig. 14.3).
Apart from having an air valve with automatic control, the design of the carburetor does not differ from the construction of the carburettor earlier model years.

Refitting
Remove the air filter and remove the power cord from the choke with automatic control.
Remove the screws, remove the cover and simultaneously disconnect the bimetallic spring from the actuator arm flap.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal; Before tightening the screws, align the mark on the cover with the center mark on the body (Fig. 14.4).
Check and adjust
Check the conductivity of the heating coil of the air damper automatically controlled by unplugging it from the power cord and connect the ohmmeter leads to the wire coil and the "weight" of the car. If the ohmmeter shows "infinity", then winding the cover and open the air damper must be replaced.
Operation iris valve is similar to the operation explained in "Repair and carburetor adjustment" (see. "The power supply system of petrol engines").

To adjust the throttle to idle, open the valve, lower the lever on the top step of the second cam. Check the gap between the throttle valve and the wall of the primary chamber, which must be 0,94-1,38 mm. If necessary, adjust it by turning the adjusting screw (Fig. 14.5).
Operation checking throttle opening is similar to the operation explained in "Repair and carburetor adjustment" (see. "The power supply system of petrol engines"), with the primary camera shutter should be open by 50 ?� before the opening of the secondary valve chamber. The nominal size of 7,32-8,28 mm.

To adjust the throttle when the engine is idling, open the throttle and push the lever on the top step of the second cam (Fig. 14.6). Make sure that the gap between the upper edge of the wall and the throttle was in the range of 0,60-1,00 mm. If you need a small adjustment, bend the tab on the drive lever. If you require a large adjustment, bend the rod drive.

To adjust the pressure relief valve is fully open the valve of the primary chamber, then check that the gap between the upper edge of the throttle body and the wall of the primary chamber is equal to 0,07-0,51 mm; If necessary, bend the tab (Fig. 14.7).
To test the throttle at idle warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, then stop it and remove the air filter. Open the throttle, then fully close the throttle and release the throttle. Cam system of idling keep the throttle open the primary chamber in the idle position. Connect the tachometer, and then without pressing the accelerator pedal, start up the engine and make sure the engine crankshaft rotates at 3000-4000 min -1. If necessary, adjust the engine speed of the engine by turning the adjusting screw of idling. Stop the engine, remove the tachometer and replace the air filter.

PBT system is essentially a fuel injection system Bosch L-Jetronic. The basic elements of this system are shown in Fig. 14.8 and 14.9.

Airflow Meter
Flow meter measures the amount of air entering the engine air and a potentiometer converts it into an electrical signal which is sent to the control unit.
Air flow meter is provided with a temperature sensor to the engine air bypass system idle mode and switch the fuel pump.
Check the air flow meter
Remove the pressure plate mounting bolts and remove the rubber cover from the air flow meter connector.
Turn on the ignition and measure the voltage with a voltmeter between each terminal connector and the "weight" of the car. On contact ?�FC?� and ?�VB?� should be battery voltage at the contact ?�VC?� - voltage of 6-10 V, at the contact ?�VS?� - 0,7-2,7 V.
If the measured voltages are different, check the wiring and fuse.
Release clips and disconnect the connector from the air flow meter.

Ohmmeter connected between terminals "E2" and ?�VS?� connector, check the resistance, which should be more than 20 ohms (Fig. 14.10). Resistance between terminals "E2" and ?�VC?� should be 100-300 ohms between terminals "E2" and ?�VB?� - 200-400 ohms between terminals "E1" and ?�FC?� it must be infinite.

The resistance between the contacts "E2" and "TNA" depends on the air temperature in the air filter. Remove the air filter cover and with a thermometer and a heat source (such as a hair dryer for drying of hair) to measure the resistance and compare it with the technical data (Fig. 14.11).
Open the inner plate of the air flow meter and measure the resistance between terminals "E2" and ?�VS?�, which must be less than 400 ohms. Between contacts "E1" and ?�FC?� resistance should be zero.
Ensure that the inner plate is free to move, and, if necessary, by compressed air to remove sediment and particles that impede the movement of the plate.
Replace the air filter cover and plug the connector.
Removal and installation of the air flow meter
Remove the pressure plate mounting bolts and remove the connector from the air flow meter.
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the primary air hose and two air hose.
Disconnect vacuum hose going to the power-assisted steering, air conditioning or solenoid valves.
Remove the air cleaner cover, then turn out bolts of air flow meter and remove the rubber seal.
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Install a new rubber seal and at the end of the installation, check and adjust the speed of the crankshaft of the engine at idle.

Throttle knot
The throttle assembly is located behind the air flow meter is attached to the expansion chamber. It is provided with a throttle valve, which is connected with an accelerator pedal; bypass system idling; throttle position sensor; a damper to control the closing of the throttle. Throttle position sensor sends a signal to the control unit.
Checking the throttle device
Turn the throttle lever and make sure it is easy to mix. In the free state, the lever should touch the throttle stop screw. If necessary, clean the axis of the elements, check the damper for binding.
Start up the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.

Set the idle speed, then turns disconnect hoses and check the pressure in the channels, guided by Fig. 14.12. On the channel "A", "B" and "C" should not be a vacuum in the channels "D" and "E" vacuum level should be the same as in the intake manifold.
Repeat the test at a frequency of engine speed greater than idle. In the channels "A", "B" and "C" must be a vacuum in the channels "D" and "E" vacuum should be smaller than in the intake manifold.
Removing and installing throttle assembly
Drain the coolant.
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air intake hose.
Disconnect the accelerator cable and connector from the throttle position sensor.
Remove the bracket bolts.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the upper nozzle.
Disconnect the cooling hoses and air hose from the bypass valve.
Remove the bolts of the throttle assembly to the expansion chamber, remove the spacer and remove the remaining vacuum hoses.
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Install a new gasket and refill the coolant. Adjust the throttle position sensor and the engine speed of the engine at idle.

Remove the rubber boot from the sensor connector located on the throttle body assembly.

Turn on the ignition and measure the voltage with a voltmeter between each of the pins and the "weight" (Fig. 14.13). At the contact "A" should be the voltage of 0.4-0.6 V on track "B" - less than 1.5 V at the contact "C" - 4.5-5.5 V and contact ?�D?� - less than 1.5 V.
Fully open the throttle valve and recheck. At the contact "A" should be the voltage of 4.5 V at the contact ?�D?� - about 12 volts at the contact "B" and "C" should be the same voltage as measured previously.
If the voltage on pin ?�D?� does not correspond to the desired value, check the adjustment of the throttle position sensor. If the voltage on the other terminals does not correspond to the desired value, check the resistance of the throttle position sensor.
Switch off the ignition and set the rubber casing.

Insert the dipstick to check the gap between 0.2 mm throttle lever and adjusting screw, then ohmmeter, measure continuity between contacts ?�D?� and ?�B?� on the sensor (Fig. 14.14). Insert the probe is 0.5 mm thick, the resistance between the contacts must be equal to infinity.
If necessary, adjust the position of the sensor to produce the desired results.
Before you connect the ohmmeter to measure the resistance between the contacts of the connector. At closed throttle resistance between terminals "A" and "B" should be around 500 ohms, and at open throttle - about 4500 ohms. Between contacts "B" and "C" the resistance must be between 4000-6000 ohms, regardless of throttle position, otherwise replace the gauge.

Air valve
The air valve is installed in the bypass hose that bypasses the throttle assembly. He has an electrical coil and bimetallic spring bulbs. When the engine is cold, the valve is open and allows additional air for the engine is idling. During warm-up the bimetallic spring gradually closes the valve, thus returning the crankshaft of the engine to the normal speed when idling.
Checking the air valve
Start up the engine and let it run at idle, and then press a bypass hose near the throttle body assembly and make sure the speed of the crankshaft of the engine diminished.
If the engine is cold and the engine speed does not decrease, check the tightness and condition of the air hose valve.
If the engine is warm and the engine speed is reduced by more than 200 min -1, disconnect the connector from the valve and remove the rubber cover. Ignition voltmeter, check the voltage at the contact ?�GR?� connector, which should be equal to the battery voltage. Otherwise, check the appropriate wires and relays.
After disconnecting the ohmmeter to measure the resistance between the contacts of the air valve, which should be within Z0-45 ohms.

Start up the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
Stop the engine and connect the tachometer.

Disconnect from the engine cooling fan and air conditioner magnetic clutch (Fig. 14.24).

Apply a voltage from the battery to the terminal ?�GB?� valve and let the engine warm up the engine (Fig. 14.25). If you turn off all electrical consumers, the engine speed of the engine must be 1200-1300 min -1. Otherwise, adjust the valve by turning the adjusting screw.
Stop the engine, remove the connector and connect the tachometer.

Adjust the power steering valve
Connect a tachometer to the engine, and then let the engine warm up to normal operating temperature.
Disconnect the connector from the power steering valve.

Connect the "masses" to contact ?�GR?� (Fig. 14.26). If you turn off all electrical consumers, the engine speed of the engine idling must 950-1050 min -1. Otherwise, adjust the valve by turning the adjusting screw.
Turn the engine off, connect the connectors and remove the tachometer.

Adjusting the load control valve
Connect a tachometer to the engine, let the engine and warm up to normal operating temperature.
Disconnect the connector from the load control valve.

Connect the "masses" to contact ?�BrY?� (Fig. 14.27). If you turn off all
electricity consumers, the engine speed of the engine idling must 950-1000 min -1. Otherwise, adjust the valve by turning the adjusting screw.
Stop the engine and remove the tachometer.
Before you connect the ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the connector pins on the valve. The resistance should be about 30 ohms.
