Description of the model Mercedes E-Class

The new model Mercedes E-Class for sale at the end of June 1995 and owes its success primarily to the authority predecessor - passenger cars Mercedes previous series (W-124), which two years ago, when the company introduced a new qualification models, the index began to wear " E ".
However, the new car is better than its predecessor in many ways.
The choice of the buyer presented a total of more than ten engine variants (and 5-cylinder diesel engine E-class 2.5-liter specially delivered to the markets of Italy, Greece and Portugal).
In March 1997, in-line 6-cylinder engine of 2.8 liters and 3.2 were replaced by the V-shaped 6-cylinder unit.
The index followed by the letter indicating the class specified engine displacement in cubic centimeters without the last zero. For example, the E-230 model engine displacement of 2300 cm 3 (more precisely, 2295 cm 3). The letter ?D? stands for "diesel".
A bold decision was rewarded twice. The new E-class stood on a par with racing cars. He was ousted from the German market in demand Mercedes C-Class. And in the first year of the beginning of serial production (1996) took seventh place among the demand of such popular models as the VW, Opel and Audi.
