eleven The structure of the book



This manual includes a summary and three sections: "Theory", "Maintenance" and "Repair."
The "theory". This section describes the device components, parts, tools and their interaction. Here you will also find the subsection "Technical Dictionary," which explains the special terms.
"Maintenance". Detailed instructions step by step presents all the necessary work. Subdivision "Working symbols" describes the time spent on each activity, the extent and complexity arising during the work hazards to personnel and the environment.
"Repair". In this sub-section headed "The sequence of work" describes in detail all the work. The chapter "Practical Tips" will help you with the replacement units and parts, and in case of unclear issues.
Section "Repair" also contains a subsection "Faults and remedies", which helps to determine the cause and correct common faults components and systems.
Illustrations of the book gives a visual representation of the design of components and assemblies, and about the operation of their maintenance and repair.
To explain basic terms, definitions and a brief description of the appointment and operation of components and systems introduced in the book chapter "Technical Dictionary".
Below is a sample of design "technical dictionary."

Technical Dictionary
Cylinder block. Inside it there are moving parts of the engine. For most engine cylinder block is made from cast iron. In the cylinder block and install these units as a starter, alternator, ignition systems and components.

A sample implementation of a table listing the exact sequence of operations, maintenance and repair is given below as an example. It also indicates what to look for when repairs.

1. Remove the intake manifold. In a diesel engine: dismantle the suction pipe. Both engines disconnect the wiring.
2. Unscrew the six bolts head cover and gently remove it. If the cap fits tightly to the head, remove it by gently tapping on it with your hand or a hammer handle.
3. To measure the compression and check the functioning of the valves of one cylinder intake and exhaust valves must be completely closed. For this purpose it is necessary to rotate the camshaft to the position where both the first cylinder cam (movement in the right direction) will be symmetrical in its upper position (when it is necessary to monitor RT-labeled). This provision corresponds to the top dead center.
