New steering

The new design is now no steering bipod, intermediate levers, and the reinforcement plate fixing elements. The steering rod coupled to the steering mechanism without intermediate bypass elements. This not only facilitates installation, but also reduces the weight. The design ensures accurate and precise handling. Due to mounting the steering to the subframe via elastic elements significantly reduces the transmission road irregularities on the steering wheel, so the new design, in addition to other advantages, increases comfort. Because the steering is more in the inner part of the subframe, engineers from Mercedes developed a steering shaft with two joints with cross. They align some axial displacement between the steering mechanism and the steering shaft, and also serve to reduce the vibrations which are damped by the first hinge integrated torsional vibration damper. The second joint with a crosspiece is swinging hinge that allows an individual adjustment of the steering column length and height, which is also equipped with an electric drive.
