Checking the liquid level in the cooling system

Coolant expansion tank (arrow shows the filler cap of the cooling system of the engine)
Fig. 10. Coolant expansion tank (arrow shows the filler cap of the cooling system of the engine)

Since the coolant expansion tank is made of an opaque material, for checking the level of liquid in the system need to unscrew the screw plug in the upper tank of the radiator (Fig. 10). The motor must be stopped at the same time, and its temperature should be above 50 ? C in the expansion tank must be visible to the coolant. Before the advent of the first night frosts, check the antifreeze concentration (freezing temperature no higher than -30 ? C) through the filler cap of the radiator expansion tank. For more information on this subject can be found in Sec. "Cooling system".

A warning
Cork expansion tank may be opened when the coolant temperature is below 90 ? C Sacha plug turn to the first lock, pause briefly to release the steam and then just open completely. To make up for the small loss of coolant, use plain water. Do not use completely free of lime, rainwater, distilled or demineralized water, as it contributes to the formation of corrosion. If the path of the cooling system leaked a large amount of coolant is never top up with cold water into a hot engine so as not to deform or due to thermal stress is not cracked cylinder head. A small amount of cold water can be topped up in the hot engine.
