Cylinder Head






The cylinder head is cast from an aluminum alloy. It provides channels for coolant, oil, air required for combustion of fuel, exhaust gases. The cylinder head mounted glow plugs, fuel injectors, prechamber, valve springs and valve lifters. The cylinder head is installed and camshaft. The intake and exhaust manifolds are mounted on the outside of the cylinder head. For better filling of the cylinders are made channels for air on one side of the head unit, and for the exhaust gases - other.
The cylinder head also has sensors that perform various functions of engine management.
Since the cylinder head is made of aluminum alloy, it is easy to deform, if, for example, do not follow the sequence of loosening or tightening the head bolts. It is not allowed to remove the cylinder head on the hot engine.
Check the accuracy of the cylinder head mounted on the engine, it is practically impossible. It may happen that burnt cylinder head gasket. Preliminary checks can be carried out after removing the plug from the coolant expansion tank. If the engine is running in a tank of air bubbles are visible, it can be assumed that the burnt cylinder head gasket. Other symptoms of burnt pads are white smoke from the exhaust pipe, traces of oil in the cooling water or water in oil. Presence of water in oil can be checked on the pull out of the engine oil dipstick. If the oil on the dipstick has a white or gray color, it can be assumed that the damaged cylinder head gasket.
If you are sure that the cylinders of the engine coolant is entered, and the car to be driven away to a parking lot or other location, you should unscrew the nozzle and scroll through the engine with the starter. So it is possible to clear the cylinders of the accumulated liquid. Then set the nozzle into place, start up the engine, and follow to the destination without stopping the motor. The only way to prevent serious damage to the crank mechanism (eg, deformation of rods).
