Dismantling the cylinder head

The following describes the operation to replace the cylinder head. If you plan to spend a repair valves, the description of the other types of work can be omitted. The following operation is performed on a previous engine cylinder head. Valve stem seals can be replaced and the engine is mounted on the car, but we advise to carry out this work to the service station, because it is better equipped with special devices needed for retention valves, remove crackers, etc. Signs of wear stem seals is blue smoke from the exhaust pipe with a sharp pressed the accelerator pedal after a while the engine at idle and when starting a cold engine. It is a sign of wear and increased oil consumption, such as 1 liter per 1000 km. Replacing valve stem seals in the engine removed from the car will be described separately. When disassembling the cylinder head proceed as follows:

Details of the cylinder head of the engine capacity of 2.9 liters
Fig. 34. Details of the cylinder head of the engine capacity of 2.9 liters: 1 - the cylinder head bolts, located in the housing of the drive chain; 2 - elastic washer; 3 - a bolt of fastening of the bearing cap to the cylinder head; 4 - washer bearing cap bolts; 5 - a cover of the bearing of the camshaft; 6 - landing sleeve; 7 - a bolt of fastening of the cylinder head; 8 - a sealing ring; 9 - back stopper oil channel; 10 - socket for connection of the pipes of a heater; 11 - threaded adapter; 12 - adapter for connection of a temperature sensor; 13 - a sealing ring; 14 - adapter for connection of a temperature sensor; 15 - a sealing ring; 16 - cylinder head gasket; 17 - a washer mounting bolts of the fuel filter to the cylinder head; 18 - a bolt of fastening of the fuel filter to the cylinder head; 19 - a ball to close the channels of the cooling system; 20 - ball, closing the oil passage in front; 21 - a stopper; 22 - the exhaust manifold studs

- Remove all parts of the cylinder head (Fig. 34);
- Remove the camshaft. To do this, turn away all bolts of covers of bearings of a camshaft, after which the shaft can be separated from the cylinder head. On the bearing caps stamped numbers, which should correspond to number stamped on the cylinder head;
- To dismantle the valve requires a special puller valves. For this purpose, any device may be amiss, able to compress the valve spring, acting on the upper plate. After compression valve spring must be removed crackers with tweezers or a magnet. If there is no special equipment to compress the valve spring, the cylinder head should be put on a smooth, flat surface workbench so that the valves turned backed from below. Then take a piece of pipe with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the upper plate of the valve spring, put it on top of the valve spring plate and hit the hammer on the upper end of the pipe. This crackers pop out of the cone and the plate will remain inside the pipe. When you hit the hammer does not raise above the pipe, crackers are not rushed and will not be lost;

The cylinder head and the intake valve: 1 - cylinder head; 2 - the seat of the intake valve; 3 - stem seal; 4 - valve spring; 5 - Oil pipe; 6 - the top plate of the valve spring; 7 - crackers; 8 - the valve tappet with hydraulic clearance compensator (Hydropusher); 9 - camshaft; 10 - a bolt of fastening M8h45 camshaft bearing cap; 11 - washer; 12 - a cover of the bearing of the camshaft; 13 - plug cylinder head; 14 - the valve spring thrust washer; 15 - a lock ring; 16 - the directing plug of the intake valve; 17 - inlet valve

The cylinder head and exhaust valve

The cylinder head and the exhaust valve: 1 - the seat of the exhaust valve; 2 - cylinder head; 3 - a lock ring; 4 - valve spring thrust washer; 5 - the directing plug of the exhaust valve; 6 - stem seal; 7 - a cover of the bearing of the camshaft; 8 - a washer; 9 - a bolt M8h45 camshaft bearing cap; 10 - camshaft; 11 - the valve tappet with hydraulic clearance compensator (Hydropusher); 12 - crackers; 13 - a lock ring; 14 - oil passage; 15 - the valve spring; 16 - exhaust valve

- Remove the upper support plate of the valve springs and valve springs themselves. Each valve has one spring having a colored marking. When reassembly is necessary to use valve springs with the same marking. Remove the lower support plate of the valve springs. In Fig. 35 and 36 are represented attached to the engine valve;
- Use a screwdriver or pliers carefully remove the valve stem seals;
- Pull rassuharennye valves guides and place them on a piece of cardboard with respective numbers of each valve.
