General description of the clutch

On vehicles with a manual transmission clutch separates the source of torque - the engine and transmission. When starting the clutch smoothly transfers the torque from the engine to the transmission. In the clutch plate has friction linings that do not contain asbestos. The diameter of the clutch and clutch disc contact pressure independent of the motor.

Clutch car Mercedes Sprinter (Fig. 175) consists of the following components: the clutch (clutch pedal, master cylinder, hose, working cylinder, fork off, clutch) and clutch parts (pressure plate and clutch disc, flywheel), located in the crankcase KP.
The clutch works as follows: when you press the clutch pedal is activated hydraulically transmitting the pressure on the working cylinder and from it on the release fork. She fixed clutch, which, acting on the ends of the petals of the diaphragm spring, "unloads" it, disengage the clutch. Slave drive thus starts to rotate freely between the flywheel and the pressure plate. When you release the clutch pedal again, the spring acts on the pressure plate, driven by pinching, - the clutch is engaged.
