System Parktronic (PTS)

PTS provides the driver with information about the distance to the obstacle when parking the car.

When forward travel only activated sensor front end. When reversing controlled by the rear and front areas of risk.

The system turns on automatically when you turn the key in the ignition lock to position 2 and remains active as long as the vehicle speed does not exceed the value of 15 km / h, - disabling the system also automatically.
Reactivation PTS occurs with a decrease in vehicle speed below the milestone of 15 km / h.

There is an option forced off the PTS using the console installed on the section of the instrument panel switch (see. Section Controls and interior equipment).

Serviceability of functioning of system Parktronic largely depends on the degree of dirt embedded in the lining of the front and rear bumpers of ultrasonic sensors. Noise can make the ultrasound sources (including air brakes squealing trucks).

The front area of risk is controlled by six ultrasonic sensors mounted in the cover of the front bumper (two in the middle and two at the corners, the back - four sensors in the rear bumper. The range of the sensor is 100 cm for the central front sensors 60 cm for the corner of the front sensors 120 cm for the central rear sensors and 80 cm for the outer rear sensors. The minimum permissible distance between the sensor and the obstacle is 15 cm for rotary encoders and 20 cm for the central, then violated threshold. Keep the surface of the bumpers.

Special lights are provided on the instrument panel (see. Illustration 15.1) and in the assembly of the rear cabin lamp.

The indicators are divided into two sections of six yellow and two red segments in each, - complete the activation segment corresponds to the distance to the nearest obstacle. About the dangers of approaching the obstacle (activation of the red segment indicator) warns the driver 3-second audible.

The design of the light indicator PTS

1 - The left side of the area at risk
2 - The right side of the area at risk

When connecting the electrical connector to the trailer tow bar (at a corresponding complete set of the car), the system automatically turns off.

In case of infringement of serviceability of functioning PTS activated the red LEDs of all segments of the system and issued a 3-second acoustic signal - check the purity of the surface of the bumper. If necessary, drive to a service station Mercedes-Benz to perform necessary regenerative repair of the system.
