Test and Measurement

Activation of the instrument cluster

Activation of the instrument cluster is performed when the door is opened by clicking on one of embedded in the combination of the right and left of the speedometer instrument switch, and when the ignition / open the driver's door. Disabling the board automatically.

Adjusting the intensity of illumination of devices

Adjusting the intensity of illumination of devices (with the navigation lights - see. Combination meter fuel reserve / coolant temperature

The meter is in the left corner of the instrument cluster and is equipped with two pointers, one of which (right) registers the amount of fuel remaining in the tank, the second (left) is used to indicate the temperature of the engine coolant. In the lower part of the dial gauge mounted display shows the outdoor temperature readings.

Fuel gauge stock

The error of the meter readings supply of fuel is minimal when the car occupies strictly horizontal position. When driving on winding or hilly roads the device error increases. The functioning of the meter does not depend on the position of the ignition key. The label corresponds to 1/1 of the full-fill, 0 - tank empty. Built-in dial gauge indicator lamp with the image of a gas column informs the driver of the need as soon as possible to make refueling a vehicle.

Coolant temperature gauge

Under normal conditions, the boiling point of the coolant (antifreeze added thereto with corrosion inhibitor), calculated on the tucked into operation at a pressure path of about 130 ?� C. In severe operating conditions, such as very hot weather or after prolonged uphill arrow pointer can go up to the top of the red mark on the scale. If the engine temperature is increased so that the arrow pointer comes within the red range of the meter, you should immediately stop moving, pull over, park and make an inspection of the cooling system in order to ascertain the causes of engine overheating (see chap. Outside temperature display

Display Indication ambient air temperature sensor is built into the dial left combo meter dash. The temperature is determined in degrees Celsius (?� C).

Changing the display after leaving the garage comes with a certain delay due to the adaptation of the sensor.

Also, the delay provided with forced increase the display in accordance with an increase in ambient temperature while engine coolant temperature above 60 ?� C - which can prevent crosstalk from hot engine during stops and when the vehicle is moving at low speeds.

Speedometer

The speedometer is mounted in the center of the instrument cluster and indicates the vehicle speed in km / h.

Motor oil level indicator

When checking the oil level of the motor vehicle must be in a horizontal position. The readings should be done after about 5 minutes after the warm up to normal operating temperature of the engine.

Turn the key in the ignition lock to position 2 and wait for the display on the screen , Then twice for 1 second to press the push button (5). The display must be highlighted the following:

(pour 1.5 liters of oil)
(pour 2 liters of oil)

Tachometer

The right of the tachometer and speedometer shows the frequency of engine speed in thousands of revolutions per minute (indication of an arrow should be multiplied by 100). To avoid engine damage Never exceed the maximum engine speed (tachometer needle should never go into the red zone of the scale).

Clock

Warning traction control lamp (ETS) and protivozanosnoy (ESP) systems

This warning lamp is activated briefly when the ignition and should go out immediately after the engine starts. Activation of the warning lamp is accompanied by the forced shutdown protivozanosnoy (ESP) system (see. Sections Traction System (4-ETS) and electronic protivozanosnaya system (ESP)). Activation lamps in flashing mode while driving the car warns the driver that the wheels of the car are at the limit of adhesion to the road surface and the speed should be reduced to a safe level.

When towing the car with torn from the ground the rear wheels, as well as checking of serviceability of functioning of brakes on the stand the motor must be stopped, because otherwise the active inhibitory effect of the ESP system can result in failure of the rear brakes!


The indicator lamp failure brake assist system (BAS) / protivozanosnoy system (ESP)

The warning lamp is activated briefly when the ignition and should go out immediately after the engine starts. Refusal of a lamp of the trip, as well as its activation during movement testifies to infringement of serviceability of functioning of the BAS system or ESP.

When refusing the BAS system braking systems continue to operate in the normal (non-enhanced) mode.

Faulty ESP system can lead to a marked reduction in the power developed by the engine. The car should be immediately driven away on STO company Mercedes-Benz for the diagnosis and perform the necessary regenerative repair.

To turn off triggered when the engine is running after turning off the warning lamp catering, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. The system 4-ETS is activated at speeds between 40 and 80 km / h when it reaches any of the wheels limit tire grip (eg, single-sided black ice). Proper wheel is braked at the same time to ensure reliable traction.


Control lamp ABS anti-lock braking system

The warning lamp mode off-road

Short-term operation of a control lamp occurs also when the ignition (even when the parking brake is released).


The warning lamp battery charge

Charge indicator lamp should light up when the ignition is switched on and off immediately after the engine starts. Activation of the lamp with the engine running warns the driver of infringement of serviceability of functioning of the charge when the battery goes into the discharge. It should be immediately shut down all electricity consumers, on the functioning of which does not depend on traffic safety and to try to avoid stopping the engine, as an attempt to run it can lead to the final discharge of the battery. Check the condition and force the generator drive belt tension, if necessary, make appropriate adjustment. If the belt is okay, the car should immediately drive off to the nearest service station for diagnostics of failure and performance of necessary regenerative repair.

The indicator light activation beam

This indicator is used to confirm the activation of main beam.

The control lamp of preheat of the diesel engine

The control lamp of preheat lights up when the ignition is switched and indicates the activation of system of preheat. Starting must take place no earlier than the control lamp turns off.

Control lamp of electronic power control system of the diesel engine (EPC)

This indicator lamp should light up when the ignition is switched on and off immediately after the engine starts. Operation of the lamp while driving indicates a failure in the fuel injection diesel engine - the system enters the emergency mode of operation, in which the motion should not be the way to squeeze the gas pedal and exceed the crankshaft revolutions per minute in 2500.
