Replacing pump belt

Marks on the crankshaft pulley
Fig. 3.38. Marks on the crankshaft pulley 1 - mark the installation of the piston of 1st cylinder in the TDC for the timing belt and the belt drive pump; 2 - yellow label set the initial timing of fuel injection pump

Disconnect a wire from "the minus" plug of the storage battery. Rotate the crankshaft and align the notch 1 (Fig. 3.38) of the pulley with the mark on the cylinder block (piston in the 1st cylinder is at TDC compression stroke). Remove the duct connecting the air filter and the intake manifold. The engine CD20E disconnect the vacuum hose and the oil line, suitable to the vacuum pump, and remove the vacuum pump, taking precautions to prevent oil spills. Remove the fasteners pipe under the coolant pump housing and move toward pipe.

The weakening of the belt tensioning roller pump
Fig. 3.39. The weakening of the belt tensioning roller pump

Remove the cover of the drive belt fuel pump, gasket and loosening the tension wheel nut, press it, turning in a clockwise direction (Fig. 3.39). Tighten the nut and remove the belt clip.
It is recommended when replacing the drive belt replaced tension roller. The roller should rotate on an axis without jamming.

Installing the drive belt on the engine fuel pump CD20
Fig. 3.40. Installing the drive belt on the engine fuel pump CD20

Installing the drive belt on the engine fuel pump CD20E
Fig. 3.41. Installing the drive belt on the engine fuel pump CD20E

When installing drive belt, note the direction of rotation indicated by the arrows on the belt. Make sure that the notch pulley (no color coding) of the crankshaft is opposite the mark on the cylinder block; mark on the camshaft pulley (at the flywheel) is in the "1:00" for motor CD20 (Fig. 3.40) or "12" hours for the engine CD20E (Fig. 3.41); mark on the injection pump toothed pulley is set to "1:00".

Installation of a gear pump pulley 1 - an adjusting label; 2 - keyways
Fig. 3.34. Installation of a gear pump pulley 1 - an adjusting label; 2 - keyways: "A" for motor CD20 and "B" for the engine CD20E

If the pump or the pulley is removed, consider that on engines and CD20 CD20E use different keyways (see. Fig. 3.34). Look toothed pulleys, roller and make sure there is no damage on the surface.
Install the belt on pulleys, positioning marks on the belt in front labels on a pulley of a camshaft and injection pump, with the arrow on the belt should be drawn to the side of the engine.
Adjust the tension of the drive belt between the branches of the toothed pulleys. The force applied to a dynamometer when checking the belt tension is the engine CD20 10-20 kg, engine CD20E - 5-15 kgs.
The engine CD20E replace the vacuum pump. Remove the nut of a tension roller and spring release it. Turn on the crankshaft two turns clockwise and return to the point of adjustment of the initial timing of fuel injection to verify the installation pump. Do not rotate the crankshaft of the engine, using the camshaft pulley. Follow the remaining operations in the reverse order of removal.
