brake system

Brakes considered cars equipped with vacuum booster, which allows for braking with a certain intensity applied to the brake pedal force is smaller than it would without the amplifier. If the amplifier does not work (with the engine off or otherwise), braking system remains intact, but the pressure on the brake pedal is required with significantly more power and the braking distance will increase.

With the engine off whenever the brake pedal additional braking force decreases, so do not press the brake pedal at idle vacuum amplifier without the need (for example, when holding the car on a slippery road).

In the case of brake failure while driving is permitted braking with the parking brake, but you should always remember that the stopping distance in this case will be much greater than the stopping distance when using the service brake.

Using the parking brake while the vehicle is moving at normal speed can cause a loss of vehicle control, so if you have to use the parking brake to stop a moving car, operate particularly accurately.

Do not keep your foot on the brake pedal while driving, because this leads to heating and premature wear of the brakes and the braking distance increase. When driving on a slope, do not use the brakes too long, instead use engine braking, switching to reducing transmission. After driving in the rain, and after overcoming the water hazard should dry the brakes by gently pressing down on the brake pedal and hold it for as long as the performance of the brakes will not return to normal levels.

Parking brake

The parking brake lever is located on the center console between the front seats. For charging the parking brake, pull the lever up until it stops. To release the parking brake, press the button located on the free end of the arm, if necessary, pull the lever up slightly and lower it by holding the button down.

Do not use the parking brake instead of a transmission mounted on the transmission. In the parking lot be sure to wind the parking brake and place the selector lever to position AT ?P?.

When you stop on the rise park the vehicle as close as possible to the curb or side of the road and turn the wheel to the center of the road to an accidental movement of the car back to the front wheels rested in the curb.

When you stop on the way down park the vehicle as close as possible to the curb or side of the road and turn the wheel to the side of the road to an accidental movement of the car back to the front wheels rested in the curb.

Every time you start the engine, check the K / A braking system (see. Some car equipment, arrangement of devices and controls) - when the parking brake is cocked K / L should be lit, and after his release K / L extinguished. If after releasing the parking brake his K / L continues to burn, this indicates a malfunction in the brake system, which must be corrected before starting the movement. If K / L on fire while driving, stop as soon as possible and repair.

Anti-lock brakes (ABS)

The ABS system continuously monitors the speed of the wheels of the car and when they blocked repeatedly modulates the hydraulic brake pressure. Pressure control is carried out separately for each front wheel and both rear wheels. With this scheme, inhibition of both rear wheels equally and stability of the vehicle is not impaired.

When braking in the conditions which can lead to a blocking of the wheels, as well as self-diagnostics system can hear clicks in brake mechanisms, or pulsation of the brake pedal feel. These phenomena are the result of the normal operation of the ABS system and indicate its activity. It should not be changed at the same time increase the pressure on the brake pedal, as this will prevent the ABS system to operate with maximum efficiency.

You should always keep in mind the following precautions:

  • Even with the ABS the car can not be stopped immediately, - keep a safe distance;
  • Always reduce your speed when cornering, because ABS system can not prevent the occurrence of an accident at high speed;
  • When braking on rough roads using ABS braking distances can be longer than without ABS;
  • Do not neglect the general rules of road safety.

Check K / L ABS system when the engine is started - it should illuminate for a few seconds and then go out. If A / R does not go out, so ABS is faulty, and the braking system can function normally.

When the vehicle reaches the speed of about 6 km / h there is an automatic checking of ABS, which can be seen from the characteristic sound.
