Removing and installing the steering wheel airbag unit and coil spring

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Disconnect the negative battery first, and then the positive lead. Isolate the poles of the battery and wait at least 3 minutes.
Remove the side covers and remove the screws under them.

1 - Block airbags
2, 4 - Plugs
3 - Steering wheel

Bolts can be discarded because reuse is not allowed.

Disconnect the additional wiring harness of the steering wheel and airbag unit.

Remove airbag unit and lay it face up.

Dismantling airbag unit is not permissible.

Do not expose the airbag unit to temperatures higher than 90 deg., Do not expose it to oil, grease or water. If the unit is subjected to impact airbags (for example, if it has been dropped), replace it.

Install the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position and disconnect the horn connectors and coil spring.

Turn the steering wheel bolt and remove it with a special device.

If necessary, remove the coil spring, remove the covers of the steering column (see chap. Body and graphic components of the installation of the coil spring) and shift paddles (see chap. Onboard electric equipment). Then unscrew the 2 screws and pressing plastic tab lock, remove the coil spring.

Disconnect the electrical connectors of the coil spring and the coil spring horn.

Installation is in the reverse order. Finally, perform system diagnostics SRS.
