System of the central injection (the engine SR20Di)

If you open the hood, you can see the ordinary for a modern car set of hoses, wires and other components which are or injection system, or to the ignition system. The illustration below shows a view of the engine compartment, with the location of the main elements of both systems. Let us briefly examine some of the elements.

Location of individual elements of the injection and ignition in the engine compartment of the car with the engine SR20Di

1 - the air flow meter
2 - the central injection valve
3 - the fuel pressure regulator
4 - cam fast idling
5 - thermocouple
6 - the lever cam
7 - Throttle damper
8 - the valve of additional air
9 - throttle position sensor
10 - a switching valve for controlling the idle speed

11 - control valve
12 - the valve of the exhaust gas return
13 - pressure control valve Exhaust gas
14 - a control valve with activated carbon adsorber
15 - ignition coil
16 - the fuel filter
17 - the gauge of detonation
18 - transistor
19 - crank angle sensor

  1. Crank angle sensor (19) performs the same task, which has been described in Sec. "Open the lid ...". The same applies to the air flow meter (14) (see. Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).
  2. Engine temperature sensor is not visible in the picture, it is for the oil filter in the specified location in the illustration below. The sensor monitors the temperature of the coolant, and outputs the information as a signal to the electronic control unit. The sensor has a thermistor which reacts to changes in temperature. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases with increasing temperature.

Regulation coolant temperature sensor

1 - temperature sensor
2 - the inlet manifold
3 - Oil filter
  1. Throttle position sensor (9) has the same problem as described in Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE).
  2. Injection valve (injector) (2) (see. Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).
  3. When the electronic control unit sends a signal to the injector coil in the valve pulls back the ball valve and the fuel is injected through a nozzle to the throttle. The duration of injection also defines the control unit.
  4. The pressure regulator (3) maintains a constant pressure of 2.5 - 2.55 bar. Since the quantity of fuel injected depends on the duration of the injection pressure must be maintained at said level.
  5. Transistor (18) serves the same purpose (see. Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).
  6. Fast idling cam (4) is located on the throttle body and provides a sufficient number of turns until the engine is cold. Cam controlled thermocouple (5) which is filled with wax, which under the influence of temperature can expand and contract, thus moving the lever (6).
  7. In the 8th position (8) is an additional air valve, which is switched off and the control unit to supply the required air.
  8. Apparatus preheating a working mixture is mounted between the lower frame and the intake throttle duct and stored in a designated location on the illustration below. The device is driven by a control unit and facilitates dispersion of fuel when the engine is cold.

The position of some elements on the other side of the engine (not visible in the The arrow indicates the direction of advance

1 - the adjusting valve, and return of exhaust gases with activated carbon adsorber
2 - control valve exhaust gas pressure
3 - flow control valve exhaust gas return

4 - transistor
5 - coolant temperature sensor

  1. The speed sensor is installed in the speedometer and converts the readings into pulses to provide information to the control unit. To maintain a constant speed when the engine is exposed to additional stress due to the inclusion of the servo control in the high pressure pipe steering an oil pressure sensor (see. Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).
  2. In the cylinder block of the engine knock sensor is located. When the engine begins to vibrate as a result of the detonation, the vibration sensor is converted into a voltage signal, which is supplied to the control unit.
  3. The fuel filter (16) is located in a metal housing to withstand high fuel pressure. Above and below the filter is connected on one hose. The filter sits in a spring latch. Before you replace the filter (recommended every 40,000 km or every 2 years), it should reduce the pressure in the system to avoid splashing of fuel. Use only the appropriate Specifications filter.
  4. Adsorber with activated carbon is used for the same as in the carburettor engine (Section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).
  5. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank (see section The multi-injection system (engine SR20DE)).

All instructions concerning the ignition system are in Chapter electrical system of the engine. On cars with a catalyst in the exhaust system installed lambda probe. It measures the oxygen in the exhaust gases and changes accordingly the ratio of fuel and air.

Fuel injection system works in conjunction with the exhaust gas recovery system. Return control valve regulates the amount of exhaust gas of the exhaust gases that are returned to the inlet conduit. The valve under the influence of negative pressure under the throttle opens or closes the flow of exhaust gases into the intake conduit.
