Removing and installing the front brake pads

The operation to replace the brake pads spend their own only if there is an experience of this kind of work, since this depends on traffic safety and personal safety.
In the car must be only the brake pads from the ATE (Teves), and brake pad brands recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle. Brake pads only change included. In no case do not rearrange blocks on the outer side of the brake disc on the inside, and vice versa, in order to equalize the possible wear. Use only the items recommended by the ?Volkswagen?.
If you plan to install the old brake pads before their withdrawal paint mark (marker Kern) the relative position of the brake pads against the caliper to avoid confusion when installing the inner and outer brake pads, as well as the direction, ie wheel on which they are installed.

Removal, check and installation of the front brake pads brake company ?Volkswagen?
Removing the front brake pads brake company ?Volkswagen? spend in the following order:
- Loosen the bolts of the front wheels;
- Paint mark (marker) the relative position of the wheels, brake discs and wheel hubs;
- Apply the parking brake;
- Jack up the front of the car, it is supported, remove the screws and remove the front wheels;
- Disconnect the brake pad wear sensors (if installed). Free wiring of all cable ties;

- To improve access, unscrew the fixing bolts and remove the caliper guard vozduhootrazhayuschy 2 (see. Fig. 8.3);
- Remove the two caliper mounting bolts;

The direction of removal of the brake caliper
Fig. 8.4. The direction of removal of the brake caliper

- Lift the brake caliper, moving it up and back (Fig. 8.4). Do not leave the caliper hanging from brake hose and tie it to the front suspension wire. Brake hose do not disconnect, it should not twist, bend or be bent;
- Remove the two brake pads and spring, noting how they were located. Note that these springs are not the same and not interchangeable.

A WARNING
Shot is prohibited in brake pads to press the brake pedal as it will lead to loss of the piston of the master cylinder, brake fluid leakage and depressurization system.

Check the technical condition of the brake mechanism spend before installing the front shoes in the following order:
- Clean all parts carefully and check their condition;
- Check the condition of the piston and cylinder. When they wear, damage, or severe corrosion, replace the cylinder and piston. Since the cylinder body, remove corrosion with a wire brush;
- Thoroughly clean the guide surfaces and the installation pad in the opening with a soft wire brush and wipe with a cloth soaked in alcohol (gasoline can not be used). Do not use this oleaginous solutions or sharp tools;

A WARNING
All cleaning brake spend in respiratory protective equipment - respirators, as the dust from the brake pads, released by the operation of the brakes, is harmful to health.

- Check with your fingers clean working surfaces of brake discs. Remove them from the oil and dirt. On its surface are not allowed bullies, warping, profound risks as well as other injuries, from which increases or decreases the wear pads braking performance. Allowed grinding or turning of the disc at the same time on both sides, but both sides should be handled at the same depth, and thickness of the disc should be less than the permissible;

A WARNING
The brake discs with brake corroded surface must be replaced.

- Measure the actual thickness of the brake discs and brake linings. Brake discs with blue or gray bloom before installing new pads must be cleaned;
- If any of the brake pads contaminated with grease, all pads should be replaced, as there is no satisfactory way of degreasing friction linings contaminated;
- If any of the brake pad is worn unevenly, or contaminated lubricant, determine and correct the cause of contamination prior to assembly;
- If the brake pads are still serviceable, then carefully clean them with a clean brush a thin wire, paying particular attention to the side and back surfaces of the metal substrate. Clean the grooves in the friction lining (if any), and remove them from the larger particles of dirt stuck. Thoroughly clean the location of the pads in the caliper body and calliper;
- Check for cracks in the brake cylinder piston boot. Damaged boot urgent replacement, as penetrating the dust quickly leads to leakage of brake fluid;
- Together with an assistant check up ease of a piston stroke. To do this, install a support block of wood, and then slowly release the brake pedal. The piston cylinder must be easy to go out and come back (the rest of the brakes must be in working condition);
- To the installation pad, make sure that the spacers can slide freely in bushes caliper body and thus installed tightly enough.
The installation of front brake pads performed as follows:
- With the help of clutches or wooden (plastic) mandrel at an angle, push the piston into the cylinder in order to prepare space for pads. Take care not to damage the surface of the piston and duster. If the indentation of the piston is an increase in the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir, so before pressing the piston pump out from a tank siphon-blower part of the liquid to prevent it from spilling out of the tank;

A WARNING
Do not remove the brake fluid siphon by mouth, as it is poisonous. Use a syringe or something like that.

- Install the two screws on the clamp support. When replacing brake pads should always install new locks;
- Replace the spring caliper brake pads. Improper installation of automatic eyeliner outer brake pad does not work;
- Replace the hub both new spring brake pads. Incorrect installation springs automatic eyeliner outer brake pad is not valid. Install the brake pads, placing them in the lining of the disc. Pad wear sensor (if any) must be installed on the inside;

NOTE
Brake shoe with lining large diameter (Fig. 8.5) is installed on the outside.

- Install the caliper pad and thread wear in the wiring inspection window support;
- Gently push the caliper and move it so that it was possible to screw the two screws once its mounting;

NOTE
Do not press too hard on the caliper, as this can lead to deformation of the spring pads, leading to the appearance of noise during operation of the brakes.

- The two caliper mounting bolts alternately tighten the moment 25 Nm;
- Connect the wiring harness Brake pad wear sensors;
- Install the caliper vozduhootrazhayuschy shield (if provided design);
- Repeatedly press firmly on the brake pedal until you feel a strong resistance. At the same time the brake pads will take the position and provide a good fit to the brake disc;
- Similarly to replace the brake pads on the other caliper front brake;
- Bleed the brake system if needed;
- Set the wheels and screw (by hand) wheel bolts;
- Lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts crosswise torque of 110 Nm;
- Check connections for leaks. Leaking brake fluid is not permitted;
- Check brake fluid level in the compensation tank and restore it to the desired;
- Check brake system for leaks with the engine running. What is click a few times on the brake pedal and hold it down for a few seconds. Pedal thus should not squander.

A WARNING
New pads will not provide full braking efficiency as long as the run-in, so in the course of running the new brake pads do not recommend sharp and prolonged braking to a complete stop.

Removing and installing the front brake pads brake company ?Girling?
Removing the front brake pads brake company ?Girling? spend in the following order:
