Checking the hydraulic valve lifters

Proper installation of the valve clearance is very important, since they largely determine the performance of the engine. If the valve clearances are too large, the work engine is noisy and engine efficiency will be reduced as the valve opening is too late and closing early. A more serious problem occurs when the valve clearances are too small as valves can not be closed completely, the engine is hot, which could lead to severe engine damage.

These engines have hydraulic tappets, which automatically controls the pressure lubrication system, to compensate for the clearance between the cam of the camshaft and the corresponding valve stem. So do not require regular inspection and adjustment of valve clearance. However, it is necessary to use the engine oil of good quality and recommend my engine oil viscosity and replaced at the recommended intervals. When starting a cold engine there is a small delay while the engine oil pressure is equalized in all parts of the engine, especially in a hydraulic pusher. Therefore, the valve may "knock" for about 10 seconds, and then knock vanishes. This - the normal state of affairs, provided that all pushers work further silently.

After the engine has not run for several days, the valve can "knock" for a longer time, since almost all of the oil flows from the top of the engine and the working surfaces of bearings. At this time, care must be taken not to damage the engine, that is to avoid abrupt changes in engine operation, until all jacks are filled with engine oil. When warming up the engine turns of fast idling (a maximum of 2000 to 2500 rev / min) should not exceed 10-15 minutes, or until no sound of valves. If the noise of pushers is present, switch off the engine and perform the following steps.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect and remove the elements of the fuel injection system.
2. Remove the cylinder head cover. Remove the oil seals and gasket from the cylinder head.
3. Rotate the crankshaft until the cam follower on verifiable not located straight up.

4. Press pusher a wooden or plastic wedge.
If the free wheeling of a pusher is greater than 0.1 mm, replace pushers. To do this, rotate the crankshaft and install the piston of the first cylinder in the TDC.
