The fuel pump / fuel level sensor

On models with petrol engines the fuel pump with fuel level sensor installed in the fuel tank. On front-wheel drive diesel fuel from the tank climbs high pressure fuel pump in the tank and no fuel pump. On all-wheel drive vehicles with diesel engines is installed in the fuel tank fuel pump.

By design, the fuel level sensor consists of a potentiometer and the associated float. By reducing the amount of fuel drops and the float sensor, increasing the resistance of the potentiometer reduces the voltage at the fuel level indicator located in the instrument cluster.
