Refitting the oil sump - engines BLX, BLY, BLR



Removing the oil pan
Remove soundproofing.
Drain the engine oil.

NOTE
Observe disposal regulations

Remove the fixing bolts between the oil pan and transmission.
Disconnect if there is a 3-pin connector on the sensor temperature and the oil level.
Screw the oil pan to loosen the flywheel side with SW 10 and loosen with the help of the nozzle.
Remove the remaining screws and remove oil pan. Remove the oil pan, if necessary by tapping with a rubber mallet.
Remove the oil pump driven balancer shaft and spacer.

Installation of the oil pan
Clean the sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.

NOTE
Follow the shelf life of the sealant.
The oil pan must be mounted and screwed within 5 min after application of the silicone sealant.
After removing the oil pan is always necessary to replace the intermediate plate.

Install the spacer and the oil pump driven balancer shaft.
Immediately put the oil pan and tighten the bolts as follows.
Slightly tighten all screws on the oil pan to the cylinder block crosswise.
Slightly tighten the bolts to the sump gearbox.
Lightly tighten all screws on the oil pan to the cylinder block crosswise.
Tighten the oil pan on the gearbox with a torque of 40 Nm.
Tighten all screws on the oil pan to the cylinder block crosswise to a torque of 15 Nm.

NOTE
When installing the oil pan to the engine must be dismantled to ensure that the oil pan is flush with the cylinder block.

After installing the oil pan sealant allow to dry for about 30 minutes. Only then can pour motor oil.
Further installation and assembly is performed in reverse sequence to removal.
