Removing and installing exhaust manifold

NOTE
Cars with engines BLY and BVZ exhaust emissions standard EU 2. On these vehicles are not installed some components relevant to the exhaust system, such as exhaust gas recirculation, 2 lambda probe and lambda probe 2 after catalytic converter. This should be considered during assembly work.

NOTE
The exhaust manifold is removed upward.

Withdrawal
Remove the soundproofing screen.

Holder exhaust system
Fig. 2.88. Holder exhaust system

Remove the holder of the exhaust system (Fig. 2.88).

NOTE
On vehicles with Engine code BLX, BVX Bracket exhaust system removed together with cable duct of oxygen sensors for the catalyst.

Attaching Front Pipe
Fig. 2.90. Attaching Front Pipe

Remove the front exhaust pipe nuts to the exhaust manifold (Fig. 2.90).

NOTE
Releasable pipe receiving elements can not be bent more than 10 ?. There is a danger of damage.

Bolts supports the exhaust manifold
Fig. 2.237. Bolts supports the exhaust manifold

Unscrew bolts 1..3 supports the exhaust manifold (Fig. 2.237).
Remove, if present, the engine cover.

Connectors 1 and 2 lambda probes
Fig. 2.238. Connectors 1 and 2 lambda probes

Remove the connectors 1 and 2 lambda probes from the holder and disconnect them (Fig. 2.238).

NOTE
On the drive letter designation BVY with only one connector.

The plug and the water hose
Fig. 2.239. The plug and the water hose

Unlock water hose 1 and disconnect the plug 2 (Fig. 2.239).

Engines BLR, BLX, and BVX
Remove the wire basket.
Continuation of the assembly operations for all vehicles

Connection pipe
Fig. 2.240. Connection pipe

Unscrew and remove the bolts 1..3 connection pipe (Fig. 2.240).
Remove the retaining bolt.
Remove the bolts on the intake manifold and remove the connecting pipe.
Release wiring harness lambda probes 1.

Location lambda probe
Fig. 2.241. Location lambda probe

Remove the Lambda probe 1 (Fig. 2.241).

NOTE
Water hoses from the EGR valve leave connected.

Fixing recirculation valve
Fig. 2.242. Fixing recirculation valve

Remove the EGR valve and put it to one side (Fig. 2.242).

Mount shield
Fig. 2.243. Mount shield

Remove the protective shield over the exhaust manifold, which unscrew bolts 1 and remove protective screen (Fig. 2.243).

Mounting the exhaust manifold
Fig. 2.244. Mounting the exhaust manifold

Remove the exhaust manifold and pull it up (Fig. 2.244).

Install the exhaust manifold
Install in reverse order, with the following should be considered.
All clamps for the cable ties should be installed in the original places.
Replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.
Coat the dowel pins of cylinder head and exhaust manifold heat-resistant paste.
Lubricate the threads of lambda probes thermostable paste; the paste must not get into slots on the probe body.

Tightening torques
Exhaust manifold to cylinder head 25 Nm
The shield on the exhaust manifold: 10 Nm.
Lambda Sensor: 55 N ? m.
Bracket to the sub-frame 25 Nm.
Reception pipe to the exhaust manifold 25 Nm.
Connection tube EGR to the EGR valve 10 Nm.
Connection tube EGR to exhaust manifold 15 Nm.
