Thermostat 6 (see. Fig. 188) located in the housing for the water pump cover 10, which is O-shaped sealing ring. Removing the thermostat spend in the following order:
A warning The thermostat can be removed only on the cold engine. |
- Carefully open the expansion tank cap and drain the coolant level at least until the thermostat (about 4 liters of coolant); - Disconnect the hose from the thermostat cover and remove the cover; - Remove the thermostat from the body and remove the O-ring seal from the cover of the thermostat.
Note A faulty thermostat can not be repaired, so in case of failure, it should be replaced. |
Verifying thermostat wire as follows:

- Hang the thermostat shot on a piece of wire and place it in the container filled with cold water with a thermometer (Fig. 192); - Gradually heat the water. Defective thermostat should begin to open at approximately 85 ?� C. At a temperature of 105 ?� C thermostat should be fully open, and his rod shall protrude from the body is not less than 7 mm; - In the event that the thermostat does not satisfy these requirements, it must be replaced. When the thermostat: - Use a new O-ring seal; - Check the hose clamp before to install it again on the hose; - Pour coolant in the cooling system.
