The cooling system (diesel engines)

Cooling system components mounted on the body
Fig. 2.240. Cooling system components mounted on the body: 1 - a cover; 2 - a broad tank; 3 - tee; 4 - coolant hose; 5 - the holder; 6 - radiator

Place the pump run-coolant and coolant pump fuel

Place the pump run-coolant and coolant pump fuel

Driving hose connections engine cooling system (vehicles with engines of BLE and BWF): 1 - a heat exchanger; 2 - cylinder head / cylinder block; 3 - fuel cooler; 4 - the radiator; 5 - the thermostat; 6 - valve stem; 7 - coolant pump fuel V166; 8 - the radiator; 9 - radiator; 10 - Pump overrun coolant V51; 11 - non-return valve; 12 - expansion tank

Draining
Open the expansion tank of the cooling system.

ATTENTION
When you open the expansion tank from it can go hot steam. To avoid eye injuries and scalding Wear protective goggles and clothing. Cover the tank with a cloth and gently open it.

Remove noise insulation.

Threaded plug

Remove the drain plug, the arrow in Figure 2.243 radiator.

NOTE
Please dispose of the coolant.

Fixing coolant hoses
Fig. 2.244. Fixing coolant hoses

Additionally, to drain the coolant from the engine, disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing (Fig. 2.244).

Bay
As coolant concentrate may only use the funds at a rate of 12 G TL - VW 774 F. A characteristic feature: lilac
G 12 and concentrates with a mark "in accordance with TL - VW 774 F? to resist freezing coolant, corrosion and scaling. Furthermore, they increase the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, throughout the year in the cooling system has to work to resist freezing and corrosion anti-rust concentrate.
Especially in countries with a tropical climate with high loads on the engine coolant with a higher boiling point protects the engine during operation.
Freezing coolant should be at least -25 ? C (in countries with arctic climates - not less than -35 ? C).
It is also prohibited to reduce the proportion of concentrate in the coolant in the warm season, or when operating in countries with warm climates, adding to the cooling system water. The proportion of the concentrate should be at least 40%.
If, due to climatic conditions, the freezing temperature should be reduced, it is possible to increase the proportion of concentrate G 12, but not more than 60% (the freezing temperature in such a case would be about -40 ? C). Beyond this limit freezing temperature to rise again and, moreover, decrease the heat capacity of the coolant.
When replacing the radiator, heater exchanger, cylinder head or cylinder head gasket reuse drain the coolant is prohibited.
To determine the freezing temperature of the coolant is recommended to use a refractometer T10007.

NOTE
The number of filled coolant can vary depending on the vehicle.

Recommended mixing ratio

The order of execution of works
Install the coolant hoses and secure them.
Screw adapter for cooling system tester VAG 1274/8 on the expansion tank.
Fill the coolant using the tool for filling the cooling system VAS 6096.
