Check the open circuit voltage battery



Check the open circuit voltage battery is needed to determine its capacity.

NOTE
Before checking the battery at least 2 hours can not be discharged or charged. Charging or discharging the battery during this period lead to inaccurate measurement results.

Turn the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
Remove the negative terminal of a battery
Wait at least 2 hours. At this time, the battery can not be charged and discharged.
Measure the open circuit voltage of the battery using a hand multimeter VAG 1526 B.


If the results of measurements performed open-circuit voltage battery charge, follow the steps below.

Measure the open circuit voltage of the battery using a hand multimeter VAG 1526 B.
If the open circuit voltage of the battery after the charge is less than 12.5 V, replace the battery.
