Check the lubrication system

1. Open the hood. Do not rush immediately to check the engine oil level - let it drain into the oil pan, it will take two or three minutes. During this time, carefully inspect the engine - whether it drips fresh oil.
2. Look under the front of the car - not broken any engine oil sump, if there was a leak.

HELPFUL ADVICE
If an oil leak from the punctured oil pan, try temporarily repaired it in place. You can use the camera car, a piece of rubber, cloth, wood and cork, etc. A good result can give the use of modern materials such as repair "cold welding", commercially available in the automobile.

3. Pay attention to the oil filter. The oil can leak from the rubber gasket of the filter if it is damaged or filter slightly tightened. Sometimes it's quite a bit to tighten it clockwise.

A WARNING
On the hot parts of the engine can burn, so wear gloves and long-sleeved clothing.

4. Remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth and put in place. Once again, remove the dipstick and check the oil level. It must be between the ?MIN? and ?MAX?.
5. If the oil level is below the mark ?MIN?, add oil to the norm.

HELPFUL ADVICE
In the absence of a funnel for topping up oil may be a funnel, made out of the neck of a plastic bottle.

6. Start up the engine. If the level is normal extinguished lamp oil pressure, you can continue driving. If the lamp does not go out, check the oil pressure sensor. It is installed at the bottom of the rear of the cylinder block near the crankshaft pulley. Remove the regular oil pressure sensor (see. "Replacing the sensor signal lamp oil pressure") and install in its place a mechanical pressure gauge. If the pressure at normal idling speed of more than 0.1 MPa (1.0 kgf / cm 2) and increases with increasing speed, or a faulty sensor circuit.

HELPFUL ADVICE
If you do not have a pressure gauge, we can only check the reliability of a contact block with wires sensor or replace the sensor known-good.

If, after clearing all the obvious reasons the engine oil pressure is insufficient (lit lamp oil pressure), diagnose and repair engine (see. Sec. 5 "Engine").

A WARNING
Do not try to drive to the garage - the engine fails. Drag to repair the car with the engine inoperative.

HELPFUL ADVICE
Before repairing the engine, check the oil pump (see. "Repair of the oil pump").
