Removal and check the module driver's front airbag (DAB)

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and reliably insulate wire connector (Fig. 8.47).
ATTENTION Before starting work after disconnecting the battery cable, wait at least 30 seconds. |

Remove the side cover of the steering wheel. Remove the bolts from the airbag module (Allen) (Fig. 8.48).
Disconnect the connector of clock spring from the air bag module by pulling on the connector latch to the outside (Fig. 8.49).
ATTENTION When disconnecting the connector is not making significant efforts. |
Remove the nut and use special tool (09561-11002) remove the steering wheel (Fig. 8.51).
ATTENTION Do not remove the steering wheel impact way: folding mechanism can be damaged in the collision column. |
Checking module If the inspection found any defective parts, replace the airbag module to the next. The old bag to be undermining the special process.
ATTENTION Never attempt to measure the resistance of the squib pillows, even with a special tester: possible sudden undermining pillows, which will lead to an accident. |
Check the air bag module cover (potholes, cracks, deformation). Check the module body pillows (dents, cracks, deformation). Check the connections (deformation of contacts, clips, twisting wires). Check the inflatable air bag module (potholes, cracks, deformation). Install air bag module to the steering wheel to check the relative position of the airbag and steering wheel.
Check the clock spring If the inspection found any defective parts, replace the clock spring with a new. Check the connections (deformation of contacts, clamps) and protective tube.
