Adjusting the tension of the ancillary drive belt

Seated correctly in the grooves of the belt pulleys
Fig. 2.8. Seated correctly in the grooves of the belt pulleys

Check the fit of the belt into a pulley groove (Fig. 2.8).
Apply a force of 100 N to the back (non-working) of the belt in the middle of the branches between two pulleys. Measure the belt deflection using a tension meter.

ATTENTION
When installing the V-ribbed belt ensure the correct fit treadmill belt into a pulley groove.
If the belt "squealing" or slips, check the contact surface with a pulley and the pulley itself for wear, damage or delamination. Also, check the tension of the belt.

NOTE
Belt tension is measured in the middle of the branch of a belt between said pulleys.
When installing a new belt, adjust the tension so that it corresponds to the average value of the range of values in the column "for a new belt" Table 2.2. After installing the belt, run the engine for 5 minutes or longer, and then check that the belt tension to the nominal value of the column "checking" Table 2.5.

When adjusting the former to use a belt or a new belt, who worked on the engine for more than 5 minutes, use the nominal values given in the column "for the former to use belt" Table 2.5.
For the periodic inspection belt use nominal values given in the column "checking" Table 2.5.

Do not touch the dial gauge anything when performing measurements (Fig. 2.10).

The tension - type "B"
When you rotate the measurement ?RESET? in the direction of the arrow and move the pointer to the position ?RESET?.

If the meter is removed from the belt tension, the index will remain in the position corresponding to the value of the tension. Consider indications after removal of the tension meter (Fig. 2.11).
