Description of the principle of the system of self-diagnostics and procedure of reading of codes of malfunctions

Before the conclusion of codes of malfunctions, carefully check the condition of all the electrical connectors and hoses. Make sure the connectors are fully tightened, no corrosion and pollution; Hoses must also be in good condition (no cracks and cuts) and be securely attached to the unions.

On models that are devoted to this manual control CHECK ENGINE (Check Engine) or MIL (fault indication) is located on the instrument panel and the engine start flashing for three seconds as a health check of the lamp. In case of problems in the system MPFI the lamp lights up and stays on.

Access to stored in the memory of the PCM data recorded by the system failure is possible with either the ignition key, or a special reader diagnostic codes DRB II. This device plugs into the diagnostics located in the engine compartment. This fault codes and parameters are displayed on the display screen of the reader. However, the scanner DRB II is quite expensive instrument mechanics and most enthusiasts prefer to use an alternative method to them. The downside of the method for reading fault codes using the ignition key is the lack of opportunity to highlight the full list of codes. Most problems are usually solved or are diagnosed quite easily and get some information if you can not, you should contact a workshop of dealer branch or service center, the disposal of which has required more sophisticated equipment.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. To display fault codes using the ignition key in the first place cock a lay brake and translate transmission in position "P". Raise the engine speed up to 2500 rev / min, then slowly dump turns to the single. For a short time, turn on the (then turn off) the air conditioning system. Then squeezed the foot brake, consistently spend the selector lever through all positions (Reverse, Drive, Low, etc.), ending again at the position "P? (Park - Parking). This allows the processor module to fix the codes of all failures associated with sensors that react to changes in the functioning of the transmission, the engine (it turns) and an air conditioner.
  2. To display fault code lamp CHECK ENGINE or MIL, sequentially turn the ignition switch ON, OFF, ON, OFF, and back - ON (engine is off). After that, the lamp will begin to flash memory recorded in PCM codes. First, the lamp will display the first digit of a two digit code, and then, after a pause - second. For example: Code 23 (circuit temperature sensor) will be as follows: two flashes, pause, three flashes.
  3. To enter the fault code in the memory of the engine control unit must be certain conditions are met. This may be a predetermined engine speed value, the temperature or voltage coming to the controller (input) signal. There is a possibility that in the survey of some of the contours of the code it has a place of failure is entered in the memory. This can happen as a result of the absence of one of the criteria of the code of the fault (failure to comply with one of the conditions). For example: for an adequate survey (for troubleshooting) MAP sensor drive circuit must operate at a speed in the range (750 - 2000) / min. If the motor frequency is greater than 2400 rev / min, the output of MAP sensor will be shorted to ground that does not allow you to enter the fault code in memory controller. It may take place completely opposite situation: in memory will be listed DTC is a completely different system components. For example, problems with the fuel pressure can not be registered processor directly, but they lead to repauperization pereobogaschenie or air-fuel mixture that makes the system self-test to make memory module fault code in the loop oxygen sensor. It should be constantly aware of the intersection between the scope of the various sensors and circuits, as well as about the impact on each other the results of operation of power systems and control emissions.

Offered to our readers below table is a list of codes of possible malfunctions and failures of the system, which can be highlighted in the course of her diagnosis. In addition, the table shows the potential of each of the alleged failures. If you make all the corrections made on the basis of the results of the diagnostic situation is not back to normal, you should seek advice from the workshop of dealer branch or service center.

Codes troubleshooting

Not all of these codes can occur on all models.

Code 11 When the motor is not supplied a reference signal from the distributor. Check the circuit between the distributor and the PCM.
Code 12 The problem with the battery contacts. Direct power supply from the battery to the controller was missing for at least 50 ignition on.
Code 13 ** It indicates a problem with the air (vacuum) system MAP sensor.
Code 14 ** MAP sensor voltage is too low or too high.
Code 15 ** Problems with signal VSS. The sensor signals are not detected when the vehicle is moving.
Code 16 The loss of battery power.
Code 17 Engine is cold too long. The sensor captures the coolant temperature is below normal operating temperature during engine operation (check the thermostat)
Code 21 ** Problems in the sensor circuit 2. On the absence of fluctuations in the voltage sensor processor.
Code 22 ** Too little or too high voltage sensor cooler. Check sensor.
Code 23 ** Speaks too low (below the permissible value) or too high (above the permissible) the level of the input air temperature sensor.
Code 24 ** Too little or too high voltage TPS. Check sensor.
Code 25 ** Circuit Motor IAC. There is a short circuit in one or more loops of the motor.
Code 27 One of the control loop injector is not responding properly to control signals. Check contours.
Code 31 ** The problem in the circuit solenoid purge of a coal adsorber.
Code 32 ** Reported an open or short circuit in the EGR solenoid is possible during the diagnosis has not been identified imbalance in the composition of air-fuel mixture.
Code 33 Circuit relay clutch air conditioner. It detected an open or short circuit in the relay.
Code 34 Detected open or short circuits in the vacuum solenoid control speed or ventilation.
Code 37 Contour converter clutch solenoid rotation. There is an open or short circuit in the solenoid opening of the throttle rotation converter (AT only).
Code 41 ** Problems in the system charge. Occurs when the battery voltage from the relay ASD falls below 11.75 V.
Code 42 Revealed an open or short circuit relay control ASD.
Code 44 Wrong voltage battery temperature sensor. Problems with loop voltage battery temperature in PCM.
Code 45 The electromagnet translation into overdrive. The problems in the circuit of the electromagnet.
Code 46 ** Too high voltage of charge. Processor announces inadequate battery voltage regulation.
Code 47 ** System voltage is too low charge. During operation of the engine measured by the input battery voltage is below a predetermined charging voltage and during an active test signal generator output showed no significant changes in voltage.
Code 51 * The output of the O 2 sensor indicates repauperization fuel mixture during engine operation.
Code 52 ** The output of the O 2 sensor indicates pereobogaschenie fuel mixture during engine operation.
Code 53 Internal fault in module RSM.
Code 54 There is no signal of the camshaft sensor from the distributor. Problems with the distributor synchronization circuit.
Code 55 Completion of DTCs control lamp CHECK ENGINE. Code completion of the diagnostic mode.
Code 62 Unsuccessful attempt to correct the readings run EMR in memory management.
Code 63 Failure of the control unit. Denial of entry in the memory. Check PCM.

** These codes are displayed CHECK ENGINE lamp in the instrument cluster when the engine is in the process of recording the DTC.
