Drive shaft

Drive shafts transmit torque from the engine, transmission and differential to the front wheels. In the gearbox drive shaft spline connection attached to the differential side gears. Fixation of the spline tip of the internal hinge of a power shaft side gear made snap ring.

When installing the lock ring is compressed into the groove of the shaft. Once the shaft is fully seated in the side gear differential lock ring expands and fixes slotted tip from axial movement. External hinges are attached to the wire shaft front wheel mounted on bearings. Fixing the shaft to the hub nut is carried out with a shoulder.

To eliminate loosening nuts collar nut bent into the recess of the drive shaft. The play between the hub and the drive shaft spline arrangement is eliminated. The slots are located right in the hub, and the splines on the shaft are made at a slight angle. Different versions of splines provides a connection with preload, that is interference fit eliminates all adjustments.

Constant velocity joints (CV joints) installed on both sides of the drive shaft. All external SHRUS type Birfield, and internal - tripoidnogo type. Tripoidnogo type CV joints are used to prevent the transmission of vibrations through the engine drive shaft on a car body. CV joints are needed to transmit torque and motion compensation front suspension. Also, CV joints allow you to change the length of the drive shaft and the torque transmitted by the ever-changing angles. To provide flexibility in the type of constant velocity joints used Birfield balls housed in the hinge. The hinge-type Tripoid (tripoidnogo type) used three rollers mounted on the basis of the three axes.

Tripoidnye CV joints can be removed and serviced. SHRUS type Birfield (ball) is not removed and is not maintained, they can be replaced only protective cover.
