If the downshift is not possible because the vehicle speed is too high, the gear position indicator flashes twice, indicating to the driver of the impossibility to go at this time to a lower gear. In case of overheating of the working fluid (ATF) automatic transmission can be switched from manual to automatic control. This cancels the manual mode, the gear indicator switches off. It is specifically provided for the protection of the automatic transmission from being damaged. After cooling the working fluid (ATF) Indicator of the gear lights up again and the automatic transmission returns to manual gear change.
