Removing and installing the rear wheel drive shaft



SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Remove the protective cover from the wheel.

Remove the 12-sided Hub nut (SW 30) in the center of the wheel

2. Remove the 12-sided Hub nut (SW 30) in the center of the wheel (Fig. 6.20). As the hub nut is tightened a high torque, it is recommended for loosening and tightening ask an assistant to hold down the brake pedal.
3. Remove the left rear part of the exhaust system.
4. Clean the dirt from the thin screwdriver screws with inner multi-faceted slot on the differential and remove them with a special tool (Hazet-Nr. XZN 990 Ig-10).
5. Unscrew the drive shaft and push down the slide up to the flange. Make it easier with the horizontal shaft.
6. Pull the shaft to the outside of the flange, possibly using light strokes. If the shaft is seated in the flange is very tight, use a stripper.
7. Vehicle as possible, do not install on the wheel if you remove the drive shaft, as a result of the lack of thrust can be damaged wheel bearing housing.

8. Before installation clean the contact surface of the shaft from the inside of the coupling flange (Fig. 6.21). If necessary, remove remnants of the locking means with the splines of the hub (Fig. 6.22).
9. Install new bolts with an internal multi-faceted slot, together with washers and tighten: the thread diameter of 10 mm - 70 N ?� m, with a diameter of 12 mm - 100 N ?� m.
10. Lower the car and tighten new hexagon nut 12. For sedan nut torque - 220 Nm for the wagon (T models) - 320 Nm.
11. Lock the nut by bending beads in the grooves of the drive shaft.
