general description

Parts installed on the engine block
Fig. 65. Items mounted on the cylinder block 1 - the connecting fitting; 2 - threaded sleeve; 3 - connection pipe for discharging coolant from the right side; 4 and 5 - O-ring; 6 - plug cylinder; 7 - the cylinder block; 8 - ball, spanning oil highway behind; 9 - back flange sleeves of the crankshaft; 10 - rear lip of the crankshaft; 11 - bolt flange back of the cuff of the crankshaft to the cylinder block; 12 - elastic washer; 13 - maslorazbryzgivayuschee jet piston cooling system, new performance; 14 - hex bolt; 15 - maslorazbryzgivayuschee jet piston cooling system, outdated execution; 16 - bolt main bearing caps; 17 - a cover of the radical bearing; 18 - Plant bush cover drive mechanism of a camshaft; 19 - a stopper for closing the oil passage in front; 20 - ball locking oil highway ahead; 21 - socket for connection of pipes supplying lubricant to the chain; 22 - a tube of lubrication on the chain; 23 - a sealing ring maslorazbryzgivayuschego nozzle on the block; 24 - screw plug on the left side; 25 - a sealing ring

In Fig. 65 shows the cylinder block of the diesel engine of 2.9 liter capacity in a disassembled state with the designation of the parts removed. If complete disassembly of the cylinder must be thoroughly cleaned and all cavities in the oil passages, removing sediment and debris.

The front part of the cylinder
Fig. 67. The front of the cylinder block 1 - pin spring tension; 2 - bearing pin pacifier chain; 3 - steel ball with a diameter of 17 mm; 4 - maslorazbryzgivayuschee nozzle; 5 - plug cylinder; 6 - bearing pin shoe chain tensioner; 7 - the bearing pin chain tensioner for oil pump

Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the washing liquid has been completely removed. Is required to purge all cavities and channels the compressed air. The main oil passage is closed with the end of the steel balls 17 mm in diameter at the front and 15mm at the rear side of the cylinder block. For a more thorough cleaning of the main oil line, these balls must be removed. The beads can be reused in the event that their surfaces have no visible damage. The location of these balls is shown in Fig. 66 and 67. Besides, Fig. 67 shows details of the cylinder, which also should be carefully checked for signs of wear. For the subsequent installation of the balls overlapping oil channel to the desired depth, it requires a special tool holder included in the specifications of spare parts under number 601 589 00 15 August.

Note
In the event of oil leakage from the balls to the front or rear sides of the cylinder block and in failing to purchase the above-mentioned special mandrel oil passages can be closed with screw plugs. On the front side of the screwed plug M18h1,5mm (number of parts lists - 000 906 018 000), and on the back side - plug M16h1,5mm (number of parts lists - 000 906 016 002). Pre-channels of the cylinder to be drilled corresponding thread: a front side to a depth of 10 mm, and the back side to a depth of 14 mm. After threading clear channels from the remnants of chips. Before tightening the rear cork grease with its threaded portion fixing means Loctite. Tightening torque 50 Nm.

If you plan to replace with new steel balls, without removing the engine from the car, then we must do the following work:
- Remove the oil pump;
- Remove the gearbox and flywheel;

Pulling out a steel ball from a cylinder (top) and its subsequent installation (below)
Fig. 68. Pulling out a steel ball from a cylinder (top) and its subsequent installation (below)

- Clear beads with a stainless steel rod with a diameter of 14 mm and a length of 550 mm from the rear side, as shown in Fig. 68;
- Thoroughly clean the oil passage;
- Spherical recess special mandrels lubricated with grease and put it in a ball;
- Insert the mandrel with the ball in the hole corresponding to the oil channel and drive the ball all the way (see. Fig. 68, below);
- To establish the oil pump, flywheel, gearbox and start up the engine. Inspect the engine for oil leaks.
