Changes in the design of the cylinder, made in the modernization

Fig. 71. Place maslorazbryzgivayuschih piston cooling nozzles system

Here are some changes in the design of engines 601 and 602 families in the event that if you intend to replace some items with the same designation for the type of engine. Although the engines have the same designation, it does not mean that they are absolutely identical. Since 1985 Bore crankshaft bearings is reduced by 2 mm. The diameter of the mounting bolts of the crankshaft bearing caps reduced from M12 to M11. At the head bolts are made with a double hexagon. Since it is a stretch bolts, their length should not exceed 63.8 mm, if you intend to reuse them. The mating surface of the cylinder in contact with the cylinder head, is also subject to change, so these units must be used with an appropriately modified heads. Cork drain fluid from the cooling system now has a M18 thread instead of the M14, as before. Points lubricant spray nozzles for cooling the pistons are made on new engines right under the cylinder liners. In Fig. 71 shows the location of these maslorazbryzgivayuschih nozzles. If you are going to enable set on your car engine block with the old engine, it must necessarily be equipped with maslorazbryzgivayuschimi nozzles for cooling the pistons. If you are unsure about anything, please contact the service station of the company Mercedes-Benz, as it has all the necessary technical documentation.
