Selection for the engine oil and replacing

When buying oil, you must follow two basic rules.
Oil quality: Mercedes company has its own research laboratory lubricant, which regularly tested all sold brand oils. If the sample meets the requirements, it is made in the list of acceptable for use. This list is quite long, for inquiries please contact the authorized service center. There are several systems indicate oil quality. Along with the common designation of the American Petroleum Institute (API) there is a classification of the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), the US military (MIL), and others.
For information: can be used all the engine oils listed in the instructions sheets ? 226.0; 226.1; 227.0; 227.1; 228.0 and 228.1.
From oil viscosity depends on whether the starter motor to start up a cold engine, whether provided with oil all lubrication points immediately after the start, how to save oil film at high temperatures and speeds. The American Association of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has introduced the following classification of oil viscosity from the winter low-viscosity SAE 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W further intermediate SAE / summer 20 to a viscous oil SAE 30, 40 and 50. Thus, the SAE 15W50 motor oil at a temperature of - 15 ? C corresponds viscosity grade 15W, and at a temperature of 100 ? C - class 50W. A characteristic feature of multigrade oils is to reduce the time of their resistance to high temperatures. For this reason, multigrade oils grade SAE 10W30 and 5W20 not recommended for use during the warmer months.
For diesel engines are special oils. It is also necessary to adhere to brand guidelines.
