Removing and installing front timing cover

Remove the crankshaft pulley. Remove the oil pan, oil receiver and the filter of the oil pump. Remove the power steering pump. Remove the drive pulley the coolant pump. Remove the generator. Establish a jack with a shim to support the engine or via the engine hoist hang of staples. Remove the pinch bolt suspension of the power unit on the right side. Then unscrew the screws and remove the mounting bracket assembly from the engine compartment. Remove rubber cushions with support bracket. Remove the screws and remove the engine mount bracket right power unit (Fig. 2.42). Unscrew and remove the screws the timing cover. Make a note of the correct position of each bolt, especially if the bolts of different lengths. Remove the front cover with a sock drive the crankshaft and remove it from the engine compartment. Remove the O-ring lubricant from the channel and replace it with a new one. Remove the oil pump drive sleeve with the toe of the crankshaft. If possible, remove the key from the slot of the crankshaft and keep it together with the oil pump drive sleeve.
Setting When you install, replace the crankshaft oil seal. To do this, remove the collar from an old cover using flat-blade screwdriver. Install the new seal, pressed it all the way to the shoulder by means of a tubular mandrel.

Make sure that the interface of the timing cover and housing are clean and dry. Fit the key into the keyway of the crankshaft. Align the keyway of the hub of the oil pump drive and key and push the sleeve on the end of the crankshaft. Make sure that the crankcase dowel pins are in place and install a new O-ring into the groove channel lubrication. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the mating surface of the timing cover and crankcase.
NOTE Do not apply sealant to the surface of the lid near the oil pipeline and the keyway (arrow in Fig. 2.43). |
If the cylinder head is not removed, it is necessary to apply a layer of sealant to the top surface of the timing cover. Align the pinion gear and the hub of the oil pump drive and replace the timing cover. Putting the cover on the end of the crankshaft, be careful not to damage the edge of the cuff. Replace the cover bolts, and tighten them to the specified torque. Install the three screws of 6 mm diameter cylinder head to the timing cover and tighten them to the specified torque. Perform further assembly operations in the reverse order of removal.
