Risk of carbon monoxide poisoning

The composition of the exhaust gas (exhaust gas) engine includes highly toxic carbon monoxide (CO), which causes loss of consciousness and may lead to death. When a working exhaust system and the proper operation of the vehicle, the engine exhaust gases can not enter the interior of the vehicle. Try to check the technical condition of the exhaust system for leaks and its pipeline in the following cases:

• At the next replacement of the motor oil when the vehicle is on the lift;
• When the audible change in the nature of the noise emitted by the exhaust system;
• After the accident, which could be damaged items that are located underneath the vehicle.

In confined spaces with poor ventilation, for example, in the garage, the CO concentration may increase rapidly to dangerous values. Therefore, it does not leave the engine running when the door is closed garage. Even if the door is open, do not leave the engine running for a long time. Immediately after starting the engine to leave the garage and to continue engine warming up on the street.

When driving with the tailgate open exhaust gases may get into the interior of the vehicle and create a dangerous situation. If tightly close the door is not possible, it should be fully open all the windows and turn on the ventilation system and air-conditioning.

When you are inside the car with the engine idling (even in the open area), do the following (see. Some devices provide comfort):

• Turn on the ventilation system in the cabin fresh air intake mode;
• Turn the heater fan at maximum speed;
• Install the appropriate regulators comfortable air temperature.
