Fuel pump

Established conventional mechanical fuel pump.

Removal and installation of the pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the fuel pump. To avoid errors when connecting should be guided by an illustration.

Kind of fuel pump with hoses connected location

1 - a hose to the carburetor
2 - a hose of return of fuel
3 - from the fuel filter
  1. Unscrew the pump.
  2. Remove the pump with both pads and the intermediate flange with the engine. This slightly tilt the pump to pull the lever.
  3. Installation of the fuel pump in reverse order. The gaskets must be replaced if they have unsatisfactory appearance.

Checking the fuel pump

Low pressure feed or poor performance can result in insufficient fuel supply. The pump can be verified in the prescribed condition when the engine is at operating temperature and idling.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before checking the pump, first make sure that the lines are free and not clogged filter.
  2. Connect a pressure gauge with a suitable splitter between the pump and the carburetor, as shown in the illustration below. Turn off the pump return fuel line to the tank, plug the pump inlet. For example, you can insert the bolt at the end of the hose of suitable diameter.

Elements to check the supply pressure of the fuel pump

1 - to the carburettor
2 - outlet hose
3 - inserted for sealing bolt
4 - the inlet hose
5 - from the fuel filter
6 - gauge
  1. Run the engine with a different number of turns and remove the pressure gauge. The pressure should be in the range 0.20 - 0.34 bar.
  2. If the value is not correct, remove the pump and check it.

Repair fuel pump

Fuel pump - the wearing part and it can not be dismounted, since the upper cover is pressed onto the lower part of the pump during its manufacture. If the values do not match with the check required, install a new pump. The pump can be subjected to a brief inspection, tucked into the inlet and outlet hoses, and press the lever of the pump. Noise suction pump can be determined whether the pump creates suction and discharge pressures. However, the audit does not allow to say whether the pump is running faultlessly under pressure.
