Features disassembly, inspection and assembly

Repair of the cylinder head of diesel engines has a number of features in comparison with the repair of heads of petrol engines:
- Once again draw your attention to the fact that the diesel engine cylinder head and valves can not be reversed except grinding valves;
- The procedure for release of the necks of a camshaft covers similar engines ABU, AAZ, etc .: to avoid damage to the camshaft, first unscrew the 5, 1, 3, 2 and then 4. Nuts released half a turn per pass diagonally, up to their free rotation;

- If after removing the head, you have found massive deposits or signs of burn marks vortex chambers, carefully knock out them with a thin beard (Fig. 3.3);
- On diesel engines up to November 1993 requires a mandatory replacement of the vortex chambers and installation of metal cylinder head gasket of the new design;
- If the vortex chamber is removed, install new ones with a hammer and a wooden block. When installing, be careful to place their nests without warping, aligning the positioning projection on the side of the chamber and the groove in the socket;
- After installation, measure the protrusion of the vortex chamber above the surface of the cylinder head using the indicator. Compare with the values stated in the Table. 3.5 and Fig. 3.4. If this limit is exceeded, there is a risk of impact on the piston chamber and the need to consult a specialist;

- On diesel engines Seal camshaft is installed prior to installing the camshaft bearing cap. Lubricate the shank of the camshaft with clean engine oil and install the oil seal on the shaft end, then slide the sleeve on the shaft so that it is located in the lower half of the designated slot in the cylinder head;
- When installing the camshaft bearing caps, remember that the bearing cap mounting holes are offset from the middle of the lid, starting the wrong fit, you can damage them or the camshaft;
- How to install the covers: 2, 4, then 1, 3, 5. Parts of the covers, the mating surface with the cylinder head 1 and 5, should be treated with a thin layer of sealant.
