Check, removal and installation of front brake disc

Checking the front brake disc
Checking the front brake disc was performed as follows:
- Apply the parking brake, loosen the bolts of the front wheel, lift using the jack front of the car and establish it on support. Remove a corresponding forward wheel;
- Slowly rotating brake disk, check both sides of the entire surface. At detection of cracks or significant scoring drive needs to be replaced;

Measuring thickness of a brake disc micrometer
Fig. 8.11. Measuring thickness of a brake disc micrometer

- Micrometer thickness, measure the brake disk (Fig. 8.11). Measurements must be performed in several places disk within contact surface and outside the strip. If at any point in the disc thickness due to wear is permissible minimum thickness or less than, the disk should be replaced;
- Check the runout of the working surface of the brake disc without removing it from the car, using the measuring device on the outer edge. What set the pin meter at a distance of about 5 mm from the outer edge of the brake disc and slowly tapped. The maximum permissible axial runout is 0.03 mm. If the reading is greater than allowable, replace the disc or grind it, but it is advisable to check the condition of the bearing hub;
- If the meter is not present, check the runout of the brake disc can be carried out using flat probes, measuring them at several points the gap between the disk drive and a fixed point;
- Check for cracks on the disk, especially around the holes for the wheel bolts, or any other wear or damage.

NOTE
When you check the status of the brake disc turns out that its surface are scratches and profound risks as well as other damage, then grind or pierce the brake disc again to make them suitable for use. Both sides of the brake disc should be handled at the same depth and are parallel to each other, and the thickness of the disk should not be less than 10 mm for the front disc.

Removing the front brake disc
Removing the front brake disc spend in the following order:
- Remove the brake pads (for brake company ?Volkswagen?) or remove the two screws and remove the brake disc and front hub caliper complete with a guide bracket (for brake company ?Girling?);
- Fix a support wire on a spring front suspension, making sure that the brake hose does not twist or pull;
- A marker or paint mark the relative position of the disc and hub, and remove the screw securing the brake disc to the hub;
- Remove the brake disc with a universal puller and, if necessary, easily tapping with a plastic hammer. If the brake disc is not possible without the use of large impact force, replace with new brake disc and wheel bearing.

A WARNING
The brake discs are sanded and replaced at the same time on both ends of the axis (suspension). It should also install new brake pads.

Installing the front brake disc
Installing the front brake disc is made in reverse order of removal, but you should do the following:
- Ensure the cleanliness and flatness of the abutting surfaces of the disc and hub;
- If you are installing a new brake disc, remove from its surface a protective varnish nitrosolvent;
- Set the caliper with new brake pads. Make sure that the brake hose does not twist or pull;
- Turn the steering wheel left and right until it stops, watching the free movement of the brake hose;
- Install the front wheels Loosely bolts by hand, lower the car and tighten the bolts cross-wise the moment of 110 Nm. Wheel bolts are not lubricated;
- Several times sharply depress the brake pedal to express resistance, and the brake pads will take position.
