Service Features auto-mobiles Golf III, equipped with a diesel engine

Service intervals diesel engines have a number of differences, the following:
- Replacement of oil in diesel engines not equipped with turbocharging, held every 7,500 kilometers, in turbocharged engines - every 15 000 km (inscription ?OEL? on the display board information system) simultaneously with the removal of water from the fuel filter (see. Below );
- Every 12 months (the inscription ?IN01? on the display board information system) in addition to the procedures described for the petrol engines, inspection and adjustment of the idle speed (see. Below);
- Every 30,000 kilometers (inscription ?IN02? on the display board information system) unlike gasoline engines require replacement of the fuel filter, check the status of the timing belt and, if necessary adjustment of its tension (see. Below);
- Every two years must be checked emissions (see. Below).
Removal of water from the fuel filter:
- To remove the fuel filter (on machines Golf III family, he is attached to the wheel arch, right over the wheel housing), remove the lock at the top of the filter and remove the safety valve, without disconnecting from it fuel hoses;
- Release the retaining screw and pull the filter out of the bracket, then remove the drain valve at the bottom of the filter up until fuel begins to flow into the container prepared in advance. Hold the valve open as long as there has drained about 100 cm3 of fuel;
- Replace the pressure relief valve, insert the latch, and then close the drain valve and remove any remaining fuel from the union;
- Install the filter back into the bracket, tighten the mounting screw, then run the engine at idle and check the filter for leaks;
- Several times, lift the engine speed of about 2000 min-1, then reset to idle and observe the passage of fuel through the transparent hose going to the high pressure fuel pump: make sure there are no air bubbles in the fuel.
Check idling speed:
- The following procedure applies to engines AAZ and 1Y; to adjust the idle speed of the engine 1Z requires sophisticated electronic equipment, so you can just make the adjustments at the service station;
- Start the engine, let it warm up to operating temperature;
- Make sure that the button is pressed a cold start to the end and is set to ?OFF?, define the tachometer for idle speed and compare with the value recommended for this engine;
- If necessary, adjust the idle speed by turning the adjustment screw next to the high pressure fuel pump.
Replacement of the fuel filter:
- Remove the locking pin from the top of the filter, remove the safety valve, loosen the hose clamps and remove the inlet and outlet hoses with nozzles filter. If installed clamps crimp, cut them, and when installing the hose, use the appropriate size screw-type clamps;
- Release the retaining screw, remove the filter from the bracket, and then install the new fuel filter into the bracket, fix it securely fastening screw;
- Install a relief valve on top of the filter, insert the lock, and then connect the inlet and outlet hoses, given the direction of the fuel specified on the filter;
- Start the engine (this may take a little longer than the usual start-up), inspect the filter for leaks, then repeatedly raise the engine speed of about 2000 min-1, then reset to idle and observe the passage of fuel transparent hose going to the high pressure fuel pump: make sure there are no air bubbles in the fuel.
Checking the timing belt:
- Remove the cover of the timing belt (see chap. "Belt camshaft drive") and inspect the belt, trying to detect signs of damage or deterioration. Check for signs of uneven wear, peeling, sizing;
- Even if there is at least minor signs of unfitness belt, replace it (see. Resp. Chapter) - breakage leads to serious malfunctions of the engine;
- If you find signs of oiling, tap the oil leak and make the necessary repairs, remove all traces of oil;
- Check the belt tension, if necessary;
- Replace the cover.
Check emissions. It is carried out using a special test equipment - refer to the service station.
