Checking the battery charge
If the charge indicator lamp in the instrument cluster does not burn after the ignition, check the connection of the electrical wires to the generator. Also check if the warning lamp. Check the integrity of the wires from the generator to control the lamp. If the warning light and a wire connecting it to working order, it is necessary to repair the generator. If the warning lamp battery charge remains on after starting, stop the engine and check the condition and the tension of the alternator belt. If the belt tension is correct, to repair the generator. If the voltage produced by the generator is out of range, check the voltage regulator. Connect an accurate voltmeter to the battery terminals and start up the engine. Increase the speed of the engine and, after stabilization of indications of the voltmeter, check that they are within the 13,5-14,6 V. Turn on all electrical consumers (lights, rear window heating, heating) and check the operation of the generator. The voltage outputted generator must be between 13-14 V. If the generator voltage is not correct, the reason for this may be worn brushes or weak brush springs, faulty voltage regulator, punched diode, winding breakage or wear rings generator.
