Removal and installation of the cylinder head



Cylinder heads on the engine 2.8 liters

Setting caps on the front end of the cylinder head


A warning

Supplied as spare parts cylinder head is universal and can be installed both on the right and on the left-hand section of the engine block. When installing a new cylinder head at the front end of the head is necessary to install the plug. Coat the sealant around the perimeter of the cover VW-AMV1880002 and press in the cover so that it is mounted flush with the front end of the cylinder head, see. Fig. Installing the plugs on the front end of the cylinder head.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the fuel hose from the fuel line and remove fuel line with the fuel injectors.
2. Remove the ignition coil with the bracket.
3. Remove from the cylinder head intake manifold.
4. Remove from the cylinder head coolant conduit.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the cylinder head of the secondary air supply valve and the bracket channel selector intake manifold.
2. In the left cylinder head, unscrew the bottom casing of a gear belt.
3. In the reverse order shown in fig. Sequence of a tightening of bolts of the cylinder head on the engine 2.8 liters, unscrew the bolts of the cylinder head half a turn for the first pass and then remove the screws completely.
A warning

On later models for the cylinder head bolts are used with the profile of the head "Polydrive". To loosen these screws you need to use special keys, for example, VW3452.


4. Using a steel ruler and the blade of the probe, check the flatness of the lower surface of the cylinder head. Deviation from flatness shall not exceed 0.05 mm. If the cylinder head pereshlifovyvalas, its height should not be less than 139.2 mm.
A warning

When installing the cylinder head is necessary to use a new gasket. Remove the liner from the hermetic package immediately prior to installation on the cylinder block.


5. Check that the new cylinder head gasket has the same type as the original, and that the marking or OBEN TOP points upwards.
6. Install the cylinder head on the guide pins of the cylinder.
7. Insert the bolts into the cylinder head and tighten them by hand at this stage.
8. Gradually and consistently tighten all the bolts of the cylinder head and torque in several steps in the sequence shown in fig. Sequence of a tightening of bolts of the cylinder head on the engine 2.8 liters.
9. Before installing the sealing cylinder head cover, apply sealant VW D 454 300 A3 at the junction of the bearing caps with the cylinder head.
