Replacing the rear brake pads



Caliper rear brake

1 - self-locking bolt, 30 Nm
2 - the brake pads,
3 - a bolt 95 Nm
4 - the holder of the caliper guide pins and protective covers,
5 - a bolt 95 Nm
6 - a brake disc,
7 - a support

A warning

When installing the bolt 1 is necessary to use a new bolt. When unscrewing the bolt Grip guide pin.

Replace the brake pads 2 is made complete in one axis of the car.

Holder caliper guide pins and protective covers 4 is supplied complete as a spare part.


Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Raise the rear of the car and fix on supports.
2. Status of the outer rear brake pads can be visually observed through the hole in the wheels. Internal pads can be checked using a small mirror and a portable lamp, looking through the pad openings in the rear brake calipers.
A warning

Be sure to make replacement of all pads on one axis of the car even if deterioration borders were reached only one shoe. If Pads will be repeatedly established, before removal they are necessary for marking.


3. Disconnect the cable from the hand brake calipers.
4. Remove the caliper mounting bolts holding the guide pin from turning.
5. Remove the support and, using a soft wire, tie up a support to the rear suspension. Brake Caliper 7 should not hang on the brake hose. Brake hose should not stretch or be overwound.
6. Remove the brake pads from the caliper. If Pads will be repeatedly established, note their position.
7. Clean the caliper from dust and dirt.

Setting

When installing new brake pads must be screwed into the caliper piston.
A warning

When screwing piston brake liquid is superseded from the brake cylinder in a broad tank, so constantly watch the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If necessary, evacuate the fluid from the reservoir.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For the screwing of the piston in the cylinder is necessary to use a tool VW3272. For screwing the piston position the tool so that the collar instrument established in the grooves of the piston. Rotate the body of the special tool counterclockwise until it stops. Rotate the special tool clockwise, screw the piston in the caliper. When screwing piston difficult set wrench in the slots 13 in the base of the handle of the wrench and screw the piston (A).
2. In the absence of special tools that screw into the caliper piston using angled snap ring pliers.
3. Install the brake pads in the caliper bracket, making sure that the pressure springs are vertical. If you install the old pads, make sure that they are set to the original position.
4. Install the caliper, screw in a new guide pin bolt and tighten its moment of 30 Nm.
A warning

For each original set of brake pads VW firms applied for each one new caliper bolts.


5. Connect the cable of a manual brake caliper, install the wheel, and then check the operation of the handbrake.
6. Check the fluid level and, if necessary, add to the normal level.
7. Press the brake pedal to pad took their position.
