Thermostat

Withdrawal

Four-cylinder engine

The thermostat is disposed in the housing of the water pump. On engines 1,6-I code AHL, the thermostat is attached to the nozzle of the cooling system, the engine block side.
PERFORMANCE ORDER
Drain the coolant from the cooling system.

Engines other than the engine 1,6-I AHL

Location of the thermostat on the four-cylinder engines, except the engine 1,6-I AHL

1 - thermostat
2 - a sealing ring,
3 - conduit,
4 - Bolts

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew the two screws securing the cooling pipe to the bottom of the water pump and drain the coolant into a suitable container. Move the pipe cooling system with connected hoses to the side, see. Fig. Location of the thermostat on the four-cylinder engines, except motor-I AHL 1.6.
2. Remove the thermostat and sealing ring. When the thermostat setting is necessary to use a new sealing ring.

Engines 1,6-I AHL

Thermostat engines 1,6-I AHL

1 - a bolt,
2 - pipe,
3 - a sealing ring,
4 - Thermostat

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew the two screws and remove the connecting pipe from the engine block.
2. Remove the thermostat with the O-ring. When installing, use a new O-ring. See Fig. Thermostat engine-I AHL 1.6.

Verifying thermostat

Working positions thermostat

and - the thermostat is closed,

b - the thermostat is open

Verifying thermostat by heating it in a container with water

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Measure the length (a) a closed thermostat. See fig. Working positions of the thermostat.
2. A rough check operation of the thermostat can be carried by hanging it on a thread in a glass vessel filled with water and heating the water to boiling (see. Fig. Verifying thermostat by heating it in a container with water). When boiling water thermostat should open. Otherwise, replace it.
Opening Temperature thermostat applied to the thermostat housing.
When the thermostat is heated to the boiling point of water the length of opening of the thermostat (b) must be greater than the length of the closed thermostat (a) 7 mm (see. Fig. Working positions thermostat).
Thermostat, which is not closed when the cooling water must also be replaced.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Set the thermostat with a new seal. Install the pipe cooling system and fix its bolts, having tightened their force of 10 Nm.
2. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
3. Start the engine and check the tightness of the cooling system.

Five-cylinder engine

The thermostat is located in a separate housing, which is mounted on a front side of the cylinder head (see. Fig. Node cylinder head of the engine-I-2,3 VR5).

The thermostat is to be installed so that the channel for removal of air was directed upward.

Data to check that the thermostat

The temperature of the beginning of opening of the thermostat +87 ? C

The temperature of the full opening of the thermostat to 105 ? C.

The stroke length of the thermostatic valve at least 7 mm.

Six-cylinder engine

Removing the connection pipe of the cooling system from the front of the cylinder head

1 - a bolt,
2 - a connecting pipe,
3 - a sealing ring,
4 - Thermostat

The thermostat is located in a connection mounted on the engine block.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
2. Remove the V-ribbed belt.
3. Loosen and remove the toothed belt gear belt from a camshaft pulley.
A warning

To protect the toothed belt from the coolant close timing belt polyethylene.

4. Remove the two screws and remove the connecting pipe cooling system from the front of the cylinder head. See fig. Removal of the connecting pipe cooling system from the front of the cylinder head.
5. Remove the O-ring and thermostat from the cylinder head.
6. Check the thermostat.

Setting

Proper positioning of the thermostat on the six-cylinder engines

Arrow Set bleed.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Set the thermostat into the cylinder head so that the bleed screw located on top, see. Fig. Correct placement of the thermostat on the six-cylinder engines.
2. Install the connecting pipe cooling system with a new sealing ring and screw bolts, having tightened their moment of 10 Nm.
3. Install the timing belt on the camshaft pulley.
4. Fill in cooling liquid in cooling system.
5. Start the engine and check the tightness of the cooling system.
