General recommendations when disassembling and assembling the engine

Before you start disassembling the engine, wash the outside.
When disassembling the location mark it loose parts and parts for the assembly to install them to their original position if they will be re-used. This is especially important for the pistons, valves, caps and bearing shells. Fold detail so as not to confuse them.
In no case do not mark the bearings and seals scratches on their surface or using the core. To remove any parts of the engine can be used only rubber, plastic or leather-covered hammer.
If the engine was dismantled completely, you should thoroughly clean all parts of the cylinder. In partial disassembly, observe the fact that in the unsorted part of the engine or in the cavity is not hit foreign objects. In order to prevent the ingress of foreign bodies or plug something all the holes, or tuck them in rags.
Blow out all the oil channels and apertures the compressed air. If this is not possible, then clean the channels and holes with a piece of wood, but in no case do not do it with metal objects.
The disassembled engine pay particular attention to metal chips or other signs of increased wear of metal found inside the cylinder.
Always replace the O-rings, gaskets, etc. new. Do not skimp on this, and in any case do not put back the damaged parts.
The data table for the adjustment and control of the majority given boundary wear of moving parts. If you have doubts about any part or deterioration borders will soon be achieved, it is better to replace such detail in order to avoid a short time re-disassembly of the engine. Keep in mind that these data are different for different engines. Certain values are not specified ?Volkswagen? in the form of nominal values. In this case, you must carry out the appropriate checks.
During assembly work, use the general guidelines:
- Before installing the parts to make sure they are clean and free of foreign matter;
- Apply a thin layer of grease on all parts that rotate or slide. This operation should be carried out prior to assembly, but not after the parts have been installed, as in this case, oil does not get all the required space for lubrication. It is particularly important plentifully grease with engine oil before assembling the pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls.
